RE: WACO YMF

AMEN, Brother. The two absolute highlights of my times in an airplane were the rides in Waco Joe's UPF-7 and the Stearman ride I got over St. Louis. A close third, but just not the same without the...

RE: WACO YMF

Here's the list of kits I have:

BUSA 1/4 Fokker D-VII I have two German Aces of Iron pilots (unpainted); your choice of either "Hans" or "Richt" goes with the kit. Both are discontinued. I'll...

RE: WACO YMF

Anybody interested in an Ikon 1/5 scale UPF-7 kit? Just as I bought it, nothing's been removed, box only opened once. $150, buyer pays shipping. Got several 1/4 scale BUSA kits also. PM me.

RE: WACO YMF

Unfortunately, that's the best one I have. The photo that came from off the 'net was only about 145KB, so it won't enlarge very much without showing the pixels. What scale are you building your ARE?...

RE: WACO YMF

Will this one do? I was planning at one time to either build a SRE/ARE or to buy Sig's SRE ARF and do the same thing to it that I did with the Cox UMF ARF. The "News" ARE was my scheme of choice,...

RE: WACO YMF

Well, guys, Congratulate.....or commiserate with, LazyAce. He's now the owner of the un-ARF'ed UMF I had. It made the truck trip from NC to Buffalo in about the same time it would have taken to fly...

RE: WACO YMF

Actually, I took 3 years of Latin in H.S. I had a choice of French, Spanish, or Latin. I guess I should have taken Spanish, so I wouldn't have to worry about which part of the instruction sheet I was...

RE: WACO YMF

The abbreviation for pound (lb) comes from the Latin word "libra" which means 'scales' or 'balance' and that described a Roman unit of weight similar to a pound. The word "pound" is also derived from...

RE: WACO YMF

Is THAT what you're talking about? I just noticed you had a really high score compared to most of us, and couldn't figure out what was going on. After what Stick said about the mutual admiration...

RE: WACO YMF

Thanks, but when it comes to playing politics I've always been one to buck the system and swim against the current, if for no other reason than to pi$$ people off. I'd rather not play the game their...

RE: WACO YMF

Seriously, I haven't been on here much, this is new to me. I could care less what my score is. If all I rate is 100, and Livewire has 14 billion or something like that, it must be a score for most...

RE: WACO YMF

What's this "score" number about over on the left under the number of posts? Do I win? Did I pass?:D

RE: WACO YMF

As a matter of fact, Hickory is a twenty minute drive north of Gastonia. The shop I spoke of is in Hickory, and I saw the plane there this past week. Eddie bought it at a swap meet last year, sold it...

RE: WACO YMF

Guys, I still lurk here from time to time, seeing what is going on. If anyone is interested, my un-ARF'd 1/5 UMF is available for a pittance. Everything is repaired, needs repainting in the repaired...

RE: WACO YMF

The angle of the photo is deceiving, the curvature of the top surface hides the edge of the sheeting. Look at this pic, also a UPF. You can clearly see the line at the rear edge of the LE sheeting

That's MASTER Chief to all us Airedales, Jarheads, Groundpounders and otherwise non-Squid types:D Chief is how you address a Chief Master Sgt in the AF, same grade, more brains.

That ought to...

RE: WACO YMF

If you're talking about the two cabin Waco's, the yellow one (to the right on the pic) is an SRE, I think the other one is a QCF, but Skylark could tell you better. John, as far as pointing out the...

RE: WACO YMF

Eleven down, 124 to go. Best I could do, but only one YMF in the bunch. maybe it will encourage the building to begin.

RE: WACO YMF

Dan, I don't remember which gas engine you're going with, but I used a 16 oz tank on my Waco with a G-26. I usually flew 10 minutes or so per flight, and even at higher throttle settings for...

RE: WACO YMF

I'm glad your priorities are in order. Too bad you're not painting, you could put on a coat and wash cars while it dries, then re-coat.

As for here in Mid-NC, it's pouring rain right now, temps...

RE: WACO YMF

I used Futaba 3010's on my control surfaces, and a 3001 for the throttle. The 3010's are standard size, high torque, and they had plenty of power. However, when I pancaked it in the last time, the...

RE: WACO YMF

It does add some weight, but not too much. Mine was the ARF that Cox sold a while, I sorta "Un-ARF'ed" it. With a G-26 and smoke system, ready to fly weight was 18 pounds. The "screws" you see are...

RE: WACO YMF

I used 1/64 ply on mine, worked very well. Study your reference pics to get the panel sizes, cut them as individual panels and apply them as such. Panels start aft and work forward, so the overlaps...
