That's the method I used before but my long time flying buddy no longer flies and everyone else wants to throw the plane. That, usually, means the first few seconds are hairy!!

I've had about 20 flights on it but had not flown it for about 6 years. I got 1 flight a couple of weeks ago but would liek to get rid of the stress of the launch.:)

The diode would only prevent the battery from being discharged. Charging is fine. I'm not sure if there is a diode in the Tx as I've not tried to discharge the battery.
