RE: Airboat - Spoilers

Another idea....

Instead of using canards off the cockpit, I was think of placing spoilers on the front of the next to the cockpit, they should work just as well ie change the areodynamic shape...

RE: Airboat - Emergency Propulsion System (EPS)

Time for the next mad idea....

RE: Airboat Control Systems and Sensors

I will attempt to answer all your questions,

Currently the boats weight is not an issue, as it is a scale hydro and with the relocation of the CoG (6-14% fwd as it should be for hydros not the...

RE: Bumps and engines

It could be a number of factors such as:

1. Air in the fuel lines (loose or ruptured),
2. Fuel tank pickup,
3. Carb knocked loose
4. Lack of fuel pressure for exaust

I was suffering a...

RE: Airboat Control Systems and Sensors

Thanks for the support Pro.

LtDoc,

As this system works on the acceleration of the boat you are talking about seconds before the boat will reach top speed, the response time for the sensor...

RE: Airboat Control Systems and Sensors

Pro,

It really depends on the price of the sensor chip (if I order 20 cost is 7.90 US each but thats from the States), but I would hope total cost to be under $20 AUD.

Pro
I have heard of it, we have or had Radio Shack (Crap is correct) stores here, the equivalent shop is Dick Smith Electronics or Tandy - not a hope in hell they would have it either.

I...

Airspeed Sensor

Onward with this project.

I have found a person to program and flash a chip to intergrate the sensor and drive the servo... all that is needed is the Motorola MPX 2010DP pressure transducer chip...

RE: Airboat Control Systems and Sensors

Yes I agree because the Airspeed sensor uses the speed of the boat to adjust the wing position, it is not responding to changes in the hulls pitch, at max speed the boat should be trimmed for that...

Airboat Control Systems and Sensors

Thought I would create this thread (I don't know how to tx info from other threads) to capture information about control systems and sensors that people may want to install on there airboats, instead...

RE: RE: RE: Airboat planes 34"

This is my idea for a system:

Theory of Operation

As the Boat increases in speed the control surface is moved (providing or destroying lift) to keep the hull at a pre determined angle. The...

RE: RE: RE: Airboat planes 34"

Brother,

I agree it would work however it would be the same as having one servo with two links. ie when one moves the other will to and you have the same problem as before, if is connected to...

RE: RE: RE: Airboat planes 34"

I was thinking along the same lines. Use an airspeed sensor (mechanical or electronic...I'm still looking for the bits required), a bit of electronics and place it in line with a servo (much like a...

RE: RE: RE: Airboat planes 34"

The full moving elevators on my boat did seem to work however with the CoG so far out results could be a little out. I agree remembering to adjust the 3rd channel was a challenge when the boat was...

I guess I should add a bit more and whilst tearing around on the lake, dam, grass or ice(although not here) whatever, is where the majority airboat builders want to be... you know the end state of...
