RE: Engine Temps and Age

As Grant Ed already stated it's not a gradual change. Engines usually run the fastest right before they essentially, "let go." Up until that point they will be very consistent and the only tuning...

RE: Just one engine question. I always wondered why.

Number 1 reason: Performance. As purpose built racing engines more than one needle is required to keep the engine at its top level of performance.

There are a few engines out there that do use...

RE: mario rossi tuned ninja 5 port

Again I'll say what I posted was in no way a personal attack or the classic "flaming" of most internet forums.

Patronizing... maybe a little. Bitter.... absolutely. After rereading your original...

RE: mario rossi tuned ninja 5 port

A couple issues I have with this post:

A- Why do you think you need such a ridiculously expensive engine?
B- This site is probably not the best place to ask about that engine since the vast...

RE: Poor Fuel Mileage on Novarossi P5X

A leaky pipe will generally rob power since the tuning effect gets screwed up and the back pressure is reduced. It also creates very erratic running/tuning which is common for any type of air leak.

RE: Poor Fuel Mileage on Novarossi P5X

There's nothing that's ever 100% of the cause for less than average mileage. The greatest factor is the engine itself. Then all other things like pipe, fuel, weather, needle settings, driving style,...

RE: Flywheel Removal

That should be fine. I've run with collets that are WAY off and they have still held up. What I would do though is remove the spacer behind the collet to align the gears properly.

RE: Poor Fuel Mileage on Novarossi P5X

I know a few people who run that motor with a variety of pipes and can't get much more than that for run time. If you're not running dry and flaming out I wouldn't worry, you are in the right...

RE: quick release for ad1??

Right. You would have to replace almost all the rear end hardware in order to use the quick change feature. The adaptor allows the use of the QC wheels but secures them with a nut.

Look here:...

RE: Unknown Engine - HELP!

No it won't work in a car. It's most likely a Thunder Tiger GP-40, which is .40 size engine. The block would be way to big for any production vehicle, and the cooling head is too small to work...

RE: quick release for ad1??

Two options:

1) Spend about $100+ to completely convert to an AD2

or

2) Just get the MF2 qc wheel adaptors. However, you'll be able to use the wheels, but still with a nut.

RE: New Filter Help

Holy air filter Batman!

Just make sure it won't come off. I also wouldn't reccommend running in any dusty conditions at all. That type of filter will not trap nearly as fine of particles that a...

RE: Tire Rip

CA will fix that perfectly. The guys at the track I used to race at made front buggy tires from cutting sections out of rear tires and gluing them back together. To test it, one guy pulled at the...

RE: If i port do i break in again?

A re-break in is not needed unless you pinch, or replace the piston and sleeve. I would start by opening the high speed needle 1/4 turn just so you don't inadvertantly run too lean. I do the same...

RE: Ok, what snaps a con rod!

It failed due to user error. 1) Flat out high speed runs on pavement is just not good for the engine. Once the engine hits top speed back it off. There's no sense in just letting it scream for the...

RE: smt cxp .15 and melted exhaust pipe!!!

Personally, I haven't ever seen a pipe melt. But it is possible that it was just a combination of being a little bit too lean, and cheap plastic. When running just make sure there is always a light...

RE: short/long plugs

Most plugs are considered "standard" or rather "long". The most common difference are O.S. plugs which are considered "short."

RE: O.S. .12 CV-R

Most .12's I've run really don't like it very hot. For most of us who run 1/10 gas truck the CV-R's and TR's we ran right around 200 with great success. Any leaner and they just got hot without...

RE: tire recommendations

Panther K2's in Med-Soft are a great all around tire that will work well in everything but a sand pit. But really, talk to some of the other racers and find out what they are running. That will give...

RE: O.S. .12 CV-R

It's probably only the most popular motor ever built for a 1/10 gas truck. Does that answer your question?

RE: engine life

I generally get around 6 gallons or so through my .12 engines. I have never done it but I have seen people ruin an engine in less than 2 gallons from improper break in and lean running. Last month I...

RE: Do torsen diffs really make a diff(erence) ?

Torsen diffs are really just a tuning option. Yes, they can be beneficial, but most often they are not the fastest way around the track. Answer this, how many drivers at the worlds ran torsen diffs?...

RE: Over revving an engine

This illustrates a good point. Going wide open isn't a bad thing, as long as there is a load. Boats, planes, and cars will always have a load on the engine when running as it's meant to be. For a...
