RE: Official Hobby Zone

In Lipo's the "C" rating the amperage. A 10C battery can put out 10x the MAH rating of the battery.

For example, a 10C, 1500Mah battery can safely produce 15 amps.

In my bench tests the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone

Dumptrucker, glad things are going well. I am self taught on the SC too.  Remember though, it is easy to get any plane up, getting it down in one piece...now that's a different story!

Have fun.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

That is a great ps for rc chargers. I have one very similar to it. However, I believe UK is 220 volts instead of 120 volts. Does yours have a switch for different voltage inputs?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I have the hot wheels toy radar gun, the range is only about 20 feet, so can't clock my aircraft. I have successfully clocked r/c cars, but they have to be real close.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Epoxy does not hold well to plastic. Hot glue is heavy and melts if warm. Silicon glue holds well and can be "peeled" off when desirable. The only drawback is the 24 hour set time.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I'm not using the stock SC plastic hub nut. I've replaced them with nylon insert self locking nuts. I simply had finger tightened it while rebuilding, but not used a pliers/wrench for the extra...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I went to test fly my SC after neglecting it for a month or more. I had to do a major rebuild after letting someone else fly it.

Anyway, in a hurry, sun going down, and didn't preflight. On take...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I use mine to charge my TX batts. Works fine. I actually added a power jack to the side of the TX and replaced the stock charger plug with the proper power plug. Don' t have to take the batts out of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Barlowe, the frequency is the "channel" - it should be on the bottom of the airplane, a red circle sticker. It should also be on the receiver and transmitter somewhere.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

remove the jumper on the receiver for 3cell lipos. You will need the proper connector on the lipo, and of course a lipo charger. Lipo's are subject to fire if not handled properly, do some research...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I got a 8 cell battery from cheapbatterypacks.com. With the longer wire it has on it, I actually find it is easier to get in and out than my 7 cells. I have the wire connection side on the bottom,...

The stock esc probably can't handle any motor with more power. If you want more power the easiest way is to get a 9 cell battery. Makes a big difference.

Barlowe
So your control surfaces work, but not the motor?
Have you checked the motor connections?
Does the prop turn freely with no binding?

Perhaps your receiver/esc unit is bad?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I clipped the wire inside the TX to disconnect the ACT switch and removed all the ACT sensors from the plane. Works fine.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

With the proper resistor on each LED you won't even need a voltage regulator to power it off the main batteries. Use this wizard to calculate your resistors: LED calculator

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Maybe your transmitter is switching on and off intermittently if it has a bad power switch?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Super cub a "3rd" plane. It does make me wonder what #1 and #2 are. I had never flown r/c before except for a coaxial helicopter. That and RC cars help me with the nose in orientation problem. I...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Brandon, if you want to stay with a "stock" type battery, I find that the cheapbatterypacks.com is a good source. Try the 8 cell and I think you will like it.

Not everyone is chomping to run...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I think 35-40 is about right. I flew mine along a fence line pacing a car going down my runway [:o]

I'm guessing the car was doing about 40 mph.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

How about installing a very small micro switch to switch between lipo and NIMH - like putting the jumper in and out?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

The final step is to turn the clevis to adjust the length to fine tune the trim. The clevis acts as a turnbuckle to shorten or lengthen the wires.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I believe the only way is to buy a xport converter so it works with a stock channel on your spektrum. I haven't changed my SC to my Spektrum for the same reason. The drop module sure is kind of fun.
