RE: GP Waco?

The DLE 20 has great power for this plane. I highly recommend it. Fly's mine really well at half throttle. Big loops are no problem. Flying elevation is 2200 feet.

RE: GP Waco?

Had the maiden flight today. Plane flew fairly well although the test pilot said the aileron throws were very sensitive, so will use more expo. The DLE 20 had plenty of power for this plane. Flew at...

RE: GP Waco?

Installed the DLE 20 with the stock muffler. Using a Xoar 17x6 prop. A few pictures of the installation with the dummy radial. What a pain to install. I could not get the recommended procedure to...

RE: GP Waco?

The tailwheel is installed with a hardwood plate and yellow nyrod for the screws soaked with thin ca. Should be strong enough.

RE: GP Waco?

I believe if you are at a low altitude enviroment you should have enough power for spirited flight.

RE: GP Waco?

Maybe back when this model was designed, the DLE 20 was not available. It was introduced after the 30. Most people want to over power their models anyway. I guess that is what the throttle is for. I...

RE: GP Waco?

DLE 20 will be just fine. We have a guy at our field with a Great Planes Stearman with a DLE 20 and it flies great using a 17x6 prop. After watching it fly I have decided to go with the 20. I have a...

RE: GP Waco?

The manual shows 6 11/16" from the firerwall to the rear of the prop hub. DLE 30 will fit without any modifications. It is one of the engines recommended for the Waco.

RE: GP Waco?

I am hoping someone will build it as the manual suggest. I would think Great Planes has done the research for it to fly great with out any modifications. I will be waiting to hear how the flight...

RE: GP Waco?

I am flying the Aeroworks Cessna 195 with dle 30 and it has plenty of power. That has a 90" wingspan so a DLE 20 would be just be fine in the Great Planes Waco.
