RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

When I got my LOA I did both three points and wheel landings. A tail low wheel landing was the easiest as it is in most big tailwheel airplanes but three pointing the 51 was not that bad. I flew my...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I just sold my TF P-51 after several years and a lot of flights. I found it to handle excellent on both take off and landing and never came close to ground looping it. I had two servos one for rudder...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Speaking of skis, my uncle has a set of skis for a Mustang. They retract and fit to the lower contour of the wing. Also has a tail ski that also retracts. Was an experiment that didn't go very far...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Darrell, I always use silver solder on any control rods. First the wire must be absolutely clean. I clean with acetone or lacquer thinner first then sand the wire with 400 grit to clean off any...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Bob, You can get that mounting plate from Cactus. It really makes mounting a snap. My Mustang also had a lot of wrinkles but after one long session ironing them out I have only had to touch up a spot...

RE: nice picture

Terry, I always land mine with full flaps. It slows down to almost walking speed with no tip stall tendencies. Don

RE: nice picture

I've had one of those engines on order for over 6mo. When did you order yours? I got tired of waiting and went with a ZDZ 40 that supplies plenty of power. BTW I have about a dozen flights on mine...

RE: FIRST FLIGHTS!!!

Steve, Hold some up elevator at the begining of the takeoff run. Then gradually relax it and let the tail lift. You need to have some pressure on the tailwheel at the begining of the roll for...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

I have a portable battery-compressor that has a pressure guage built in. All an onboard guage does is add weight and two more potential leak spots. KISS is almost always the best way to go. Don

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Lordus, The retracts will make the difference of a slow soso flying airplane or a fast plane that flys on rails. The retracts are well worth the effort. Or if you just want to get into the air now...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly Thread

Bob, I have no doubt it will fly well. Now we all just have to wait for retracts and in my case an engine. Top Flite did do one thing right and that was to make enough of these on the first run. I...
