RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Marco,
Went to that post and something is wrong with the photos, they do not come up for some reason. Will try later. Good to know a .51 will work well. I was thinking of using a Magnum .61FS as I...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

rc wings,
Thank you for your input. I have read most of this thread some time ago and forgot about the incidence recommendations. I have copied this page and will go back and get the additional...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Quickturn, thanks for the tip! That is helpful. Does anyone have any recent flight reports? Like changes to CG or incidence (from initial settings) that made for better flight?
Or what aerobatics...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Chalk it up to "paying your dues" or "life is a learning experience". We are slowly (some of us more than others-speaking for myself) becoming more wiser. One of the reasons for sharing the SMP...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Hab,
Take a rest, recharge your batteries and reconsider your extensive statement on your setup. Just think of the benefit it will bring to others. :D If not, get the eng and radio gear into the...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Hab, great looking plane and nice colors! What eng are you going to go with? You must have a lot of patience to wait to fly that. Hope we'll get a report when you get it in the air.

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Hab,
Nice Acroduster and Venessa rig set up. That looks really nice for a one wing plane and more complex for a biplane. I read a fair amount on the Venessa rig but it is really lengthy and will...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Hab,
What an interesting device and the cg and incidence debate can be very educational and confusing. I think I may need to go take an aspirin soon. Do you have the Vanessa rig? and has it worked...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Thank you guys for the good input! Especially on a biplane that we have obtained from another person that decided to sell it, how important it is to check incidences and alignment. They may have had...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Soliex,
I don't know what the incidence of the wing(s) and horiz stab should be on your plane, haven't built this one ( I have the kit but not started it). Incidence may have been mentioned earlier...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Soliex,
The above trim guides are a good sample to use. I would start with the CG per the recommendations and see how that goes. You'll probably think twice about flying without enough fuel in the...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

Soliex,
That's a lot of work! Turned out really nice! I would recommend you go to a trimming chart before changing the thrust line on the eng. There are a number of them and some procedures are a...

RE: Sig Smith Miniplane build

I assume the three photos on the left are the new color scheme and the one on the right the old? I like the colors and scheme, looks really good! Also, wanted to know how the first two flights went...
