RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Hey everyone.

I got three more flights on my Yak on Monday. It was a beautiful day for flying....about 70 for a high, clear skies, and while it started out with about 10 mph of wind, by 11:00am...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Well, I flew my 73" again today.....MUCH better.

The CG is almost at the forward limit and it was fine. Needed a little up trim, but not too bad.

Also, after wrestling with getting it to...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Hey YakPak,

I had an OS 160 in a couple of old planes of mine....an Ohio RC Extra 300 and a Hangar 9 Clipped Wing Taylorcraft. It was an AWESOME engine. I traded the T-Craft for a Christen...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Wow, it looks like this thread DIED. Boy, after about 20 months and 855 posts, there's just nothing.

Figures....I started this thread when I was just hoping to get one of these planes, and...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

OK, all repairs made.

I put a 1/8" plywood doubler on the outside of the second wing rib that broke. I found that the rib was basically a 1/16" balsa rib and a 1/16" plywood doubler on the...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Well guys, I maidened her finally yesterday.

This thing was a booger to get running right. It was flooding out like crazy and became near impossible to turn over with my starter. I finally...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

OK, here's the deal....

Brought it out to the field again today.

If I can get it to start on the first hit, it will go....if not, it floods. Not a BIG deal....remove the glow plug, close...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

How do you know how to set up the pump?

I mean, once you get the high and low speed needles adjusted for high end, low end and transition, what are you looking for when you adjust the pump?

...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

Emvin,

I'm using 15% Cool Power with an OS F glow plug (I had the original plug that Saito included on there, but my glow ignitor wouldn't lock onto it....the hex part of it was too deep) and an...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

I'll likely stay with the setup I have. It's exactly the same as EMVIN's setup with the 180 and Perry pump, so I know it will work.

I also am resisting playing with the low speed needle right...

A few of you may be wondering what happened to me.....since I'm the originator of this thread!

Well, after having my QQ YAK-54S for only about 16 months, I have finally finished it!

I...

Hi all!

I have a Brison 3.2, and am looking for ideas for a new plane for it.

I already have a 3D plane (QQ YAK-54S 73" with a Saito 180), so I want something different. I don't want...

RE: Please HELP! Need a 1/4-28 Pressure Fitting w/Nipple

Actually, NO, that didn't work!

I bought a grease fitting from my local auto parts store. It's too long....it bumps right into the muffler, so I can't put any tubing onto it. The elbow ones...

RE: Need Help - Brison 3.2 Smoke Tap

Neither of you are....lol.

I had someone on another thread suggest grease fittings. Hey, I thought, that may work.

So I went to a local auto parts store, found a 1/4-28 fitting and bought...

YEAH! That's it! Never knew I could just use a grease fitting for this!

Thanks! I think that will do the trick!

Please HELP! Need a 1/4-28 Pressure Fitting w/Nipple

Hi all!

I am in need of a 1/4-28 pressure fitting with a nipple for a smoke system. I have a Brison 3.2 that already has the tap on the side of the crankcase, but it's 1/4-28 thread, and I...

RE: Need Help - Brison 3.2 Smoke Tap

OK, what started out to be a promising idea turned out to be a dismal failure.

3 drill bits, 3 taps, one pressure fitting, and about $25 later, I have nothing. I was SOOOO close, especially...

RE: Need Help - Brison 3.2 Smoke Tap

I may try a 1/4-28 hex-head bolt and drill and tap it for a 10-32 nipple (which I have). If that doesn't work, I'll call Bennett next week.

I called the http://www.bennettbuilt.com/ place and he's out until next week.

Anyway, if...

RE: Need Help - Brison 3.2 Smoke Tap

Hi guys!

Thanks for the info! I saw that little button-head bolt and wondered what the heck it could be for!

It seems kind of big, though....like a #12 or better. I don't think I have a...

RE: Quique Somenzini YAK-54S 73"

All,

I was going to go with JR Sport ST125MG's on the ailerons and elevator halves. This servo has metal gears and can get 125 oz-in at 4.8V, and I was going...
