Here’s sort of a Cub on floats. It’s a GWS Pico J3 Stick modified to a seaplane. It’s very fast and stable on the water. Nice little plane for flying off small ponds.

I agree that using spreader bars to hold the floats flat and parallel to each other is essential. You could to this with extensive rigging but using spreader bars is much simpler. I like using CF...

For lightweight floats I would try the 680mm Hyperion floats. You can find them here and probably in other places.

Unless you are flying off salt water you do not need to protect the LiPo's from water. The conductivity of fresh water is much too low to cause any concern with LiPo's.
