To really get the ultra low weights Jeff is known for, you will need to select the best and lightest balsa you can get. I know Jeff is extremely picky about what he uses.

RE: Lightning Build

Robert,

Those are fairly standard pattern servos. They should work great. I set my wife's Monolog up with that exact setup. Also, used the same setup on the 2m Vanquish.

Gerald,

That looks awesome. We'll figure out the graphics for it this weekend and get it ready to go. Jeff, do you know what font you have been using on yours?

RE: Lightning Build

Weight shouldnt be a problem with this plane. I'm sure Jeff will chime in with the exact number, but I believe last year at the NATS he was around 4650. The plane is ultralight and flies very well,...

RE: Lightning Build

I don't know of any video's as Jeff designed this for himself. I will say that after watching Jeff fly the prototype as well as his new one, the only limitations on this plane are the pilot. It is...

RE: Lightning Build

As light as this thing builds, you will get very good performance even with an outrunner in the nose.

RE: Lightning Build

Jeff,

You flew my Wind really well. Very impressive to pick up a new plane and still win 4 rounds in Masters against George,

I'm sure the Lightning will be flying again soon.

RE: Lightning Build

Jeff,

After the last two weekends, you might want to consider additional color schemes..

RE: Lightning Build

Jeff,

Where you finished with this group this year, after being gone for a couple of years is truly a testiment to your building and flying skills. 10th in this years group is nothing to sneeze...

RE: Lightning Build

Spent all week with Jeff in my group at the NATS. Pictures do NOT do this plane justice. It is a true work of art. On the official scales at the NATS he was 4612 grams. Incredible craftsmanship...

RE: Lightning Build

I've just been using a throttle cut after I land. Then you can just turn the RX power off and the motor can't do anything as it is essentially shut off. Never had an issue. I had gotten the idea...

RE: Lightning Build

Doug,

It's personal preference. I know Jeff puts his canopy on with screws, so its easier to have the arming plug. My canopy just pops right off, so its just as easy to take off the canopy. ...
