RE: P-6E Curtis hawk (build thread)

I flew mine with a saito 150 and felt it was ovepowered. If I get another one I will probably use on OS91 FX 2 stroke as it is the top end of the recommended engines and power is euivalent of a 120...

RE: hopping up OS 1.60

Try different props. The APC 18X6 W seems to work the best for my 160's but the high end compsite or graphite props may be even better

RE: Saito 91 FUEL!!!!

I have used these fuels interchangably for years. I usually will switch to synthetic for cool and cold weather flying to help with starting. I try to break in the four strokes with castor oil fuel...

RE: Pacific Aeromodel Clipped Wing Monocoupe Build

I am on my second monocoupe from pac aero with 3 years of flight now. Take offs are helped by a slight toe in to the main gear wheels and by gently bumping the elevator as you start the take off...

RE: Top Flite Stinson Motors

I am flying mine for the last 3 yeas on an OS 160 Good performance if an apc 18-6 prop is used. Poor results with a master airscrew 18-6 or a topflight wood 18-6

RE: needle adjustment extension

I have used the flexible throttle cable for years, some are 3 plus inches long on round cowl engines, without having throttle seat problems. I always slip a length of silicon or tygon fuel tubing...

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe

If my 180 won't start with a back flip I use the Hobbico 180 starter with a 12 volt battery. If the battery is low you may have to completely close the throttle, including the trim to get the engine...

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe

you will need to cut 2 holes for the valve covers of the Saito 180 if mounting inverted. You should consider using a metal mount for the new 180s as the excessive vibration from a nylon mount will...

RE: PACIFIC AERO MODELS MONOCOUPE

I have both these planes. The Monocoupe has a saito 180 and an APC 18X6 prop. It will perform standard aerobatic manuevers quite well. I am not a 3D flier so I can't comment on that. I have a 26...

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe

Ground handling on the take off roll was a bit dicey at first so I started using the grass instead of the paved runway.  That helped alot as it forced the tail to come up during the take off roll.  I...

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe

there have been discussions of toe-in toe-out before.  Toe in for the wheels will minimize the tendency to turn.  As the plane turns the inside wheel tends to roll straight ahead and has reduced...

RE: Something is wrong with my OS 91 FX

Check the head bolts. Both of my 91's have had the bolts loosen during breakin and have caused a number of different signs of poor running.

RE: Saito Four Stroke-Castor or not?

The greatest benefit from castor oil and the large 4 strokes is the gumming up of the muffler threads as it cooks thereby locking the muffler to the engine and reducing the aggravation of losing your...

RE: Byron Staggerwing Fuel Tank Mounting

Centripital force keeps the fuel at the bottom of the tank. Avery slow roll may cause a problem as well as inverted flight, but I don't fly this one inverted

RE: Byron Staggerwing Fuel Tank Mounting

I mounted mine as suggested on the back of the firewall but put the long axis vertically to prevent fuel starvation on turns near the end of the flight. I di use alot of rubber bands

RE: Need help tuning an OS 91 FX

It sounds like you have 2 problems. The rich mid-range and poor transition is probably the low end due to a too rich low end needle valve setting. Try turning your lowend in 1/8th of a turn at a...

RE: OS 1.60 with Cline regulator

Truely it is easiest if the tank can be positioned close to the carb and at carb level. Generally the Bisson muffler works better with the OS160 than the slimline. I did have to readjust the valve...

RE: Cox T-28 Trojan Available!!! (PICA)

This is a great flying airplane. A G23 is more than enough power for it. Half throttle for most of the flight. The standard muffler fits perfectly, minimal cutting of the cowl. You do have to...
