Dick,

Thanks for the ATTABOY. The pilots were from a cheap set of action figures I found at our local Big Lotts discount store. I cut off the bottom sections and glued the tops to the cockpit...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

I bought some cheap action figures from a local discount store. Cut the bottoms off and glued in place. The helmets came from an Ebay seller. Can't get a photo to load, sorry.

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

I do my own canopies and trust me, it is not that easy pulling a quality clear part. If you want to give it a try get this book. http://www.build-stuff.com/001book_vacuum_forming.htm

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

I keep coming back to using what works for me. I like having the extra power the 8 and 9 cell packs give me. The difference between a 5000mah pack and a 4000mah pack in the Zippy brand I am using...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Steve,

You may be right but I've had the best luck with a steep approach and a flair right at the edge of the runway. This slows it down and usually results in a slower landing right in front...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Danny was finally able to get the video of my Bronco posted. A few things to note:

She takes off like all Broncos. Rotates and heads for the sky. Scared me the first few times but I'm...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Guys,

Don't give up yet. I may have a solution. No details yet. Just an idea but with the mess that has been going on here today, I will share when and if I am successful.

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

No, I think after capturing the Bird Dog crash he rushed home to post it:D The guy that took the video a couple of weeks ago is still trying to get the time to upload it to Youtube. He has a problem...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Bad News!!! Craig just called me back and the offer is off the table. Shortly after I posted the fact that Craig would help us out by making the mold and pull some canopies, he got a call from Rich....

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Doug,

Craig is doing this on faith. Will probably sell a few canopies as soon as they are available and then 1 or 2 a year. Not going to get rich!

The Bronco flew at the event before and...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Guys,

I just got off the phone with Craig at Fiberglass Specialties and he has reluctantly agreed to make a mold and pull these canopies for us. When I say reluctantly he doesn't feel there is...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Rich,

I'm going to jump in here with my opinions (and probably get Bar-B-Cued for them). Over the years since you published the design, I have bought 9 of your canopies for the 81" Bronco for...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Ron,

I talked to Craig about a month ago and he said then that he didn't want to mess with the canopies. I can get my hands on one but didn't want to send it to him if he was not interested. ...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Ron,

I've built 3 of these and used the specified light ply in the first 2. I replaced most of the light ply with balsa on the last one and did save a bit of weight but not as much as I had...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Wayne,

If you keep the tail feathers light you can balance the Bronco with the receiver batteries if you put then way up in the nose. If you can put your power batteries in the forward section...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Doug,

The battery hatches are pretty simple but seem to work well. They are made from a combination of FG composite for the hump fairing into the nacelle and reinforced balsa sheet on the wing....

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

I'm a novice on electric flight so I spent a lot of time researching, asking questions, and then testing my power systems. But I am sure more experienced electric power guys could have done a lot...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Paul,

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81

Don,

Thanks for the compliment on the canopy. If you know Broncos you know the nose is off on Rich's design. His looks OK but I just wanted to try to get it closer.

I had a "hiccup" when...
