RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Well first of all, with a centerline thrust aircraft you can never have an assymetric thrust if one engine is out due to fact that the engines are on the same thrust line.

Second, you REALLY...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

You can fly an electric multiple times in one day AND get charge times under an hour, it just takes money!

My charging setup is

FMA power lab 8 ($230)
Ec5 parallel charging board ($30)

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

I did the same on the horten after the last crash. If i had the lvc's turned off, i could of finished the turn and landed with minimal damage... We live, we learn!

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

My 335 project will be based on Don Smith plans (98" wingspan). The fuselage will be molded fiberglass, and i will probably design a gear reduction/drive shaft system for the rear engine to spin a...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Kahlog,
I understand about not having the time, the horten is very much the same way, 3-4 laps and its time to setup for landing. It really needs a turbine or two :)

It may be worthwhile...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Congrats!

It still baffles me why very few people ever take a model up high and learn its slow flight tendencies on a maiden. Im guilty of it with some models as well, but when there is a big...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

The CA hinges should be ok.. Not my preference, but should be ok. That said, i have seen numerous chinese arfs from different manufacturers and suppliers who supplied CA hinges with the Arfs that...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Your only option is either fly it as is or cough up the money for tires and brakes

No mixing in your radio or external Pcb board will ever make a single function esc (aka, low throttle to high...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Kahloq,
Its on backwards buddy. The blunt leading edge should be butted up against the spinner backplate of the rear motor. The spinner should still fit, but not as well. It looks to me they...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Im not saying it wont work, im saying that unless you know EXACTLY what material, tube diameter, thickness, etc was used, your likely not going to have the same success with doing the design and...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

John,
Its not just the misalignment of the shaft/engine and the balance. It is the rotational vibrations caused from power pulses of the engine, the tube will actually deflect and deform and...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Yea, he built it. But he didnt design the prop drive shaft system, it was designed by the manufacturer of that kit. Doing an extended prop drive shaft isnt as simple as supporting a tube with some...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

The least of your problems will be cooling with an extension shaft that long.

Look into rotational vibration of propeller shafts and plan to spend allot of time reading, designing, building...

RE: ESM Dornier DO 335

Is all of the wing, tail and control surfaces fully sheeted? I'm thinking one of these may be good for a kit bash, which will involve stripping, glassing and full surface detail... unless i'd have to...
