What Littlestown has is exactly what he said in his original post, an ST175 Homelite string trimmer engine. The handle is also the fuel tank. The powerhead is mounted on the lower end of the handle....

Littlestown--I checked my ST and the aluminum piece is still on the crank. However, it is aluminum and the crank is steel so it will come apart If you can't turn it apart, then split it with a Dremel...

Littlestown--Turn that motor over, plug down, and see if a lot of your problems go away. Your shaft will be high enough then, your carb will be on top too. Seem to remember one more part to come off...

According to my saw book your Mac 140 is a 1.78 ci engine =29.1cc. MAS says 18 x8, 18 x 10, 20x6 or20x8 for a prop. Personaly, I'd stick with the higher pitches. Best to ya!!!

You can get that resistor plug at nearly any lawn and garden supply, auto parts , anywhere that has plugs. They aren't all that special.Best to ya!!! Gordy

You definitely need a resistor plug. Resistor plugs all have an "R" somewhere in their number. Don't forget metal-to-metal vibration will do a job on ya too. Best to ya!!!
