Guns are bad, they get too hot and they're hard to hold. Get a simple Weller 40w pencil iron with a chisel tip. You'll never need more unless you get into building a lot of battery packs.

Neo/Sphere - More top end, not as much torque. I've ran it overgeared, undergeared and balls to the wall, never had a heat problem.

6 cells is plenty. 7 would be totally uncontrollable. Not that 6 ARE controllable, but 7 would be terrible... I've ran 7c in my Losi before and it works quite well.
