RE: 150mph + planes

Slowmo777, Nice looking prop, kinda like the broken blade in my automatic food processor.

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man, Try and maintain the angle as much as possible. If done correctly you can go to a 9/6 prop and get about the same rpm that you were getting with the 9/5 prop. Let us know how it works...

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man, I spent hours trying to get the optimum setting and I provided you with the figure .255". What else can one do? I assumed you have the 32 sx. If its not the sx your going to have to...

RE: 150mph + planes

It does not take a lot of money to go fast. A small lightweight 1/12 scale warbird with a .15 will work just fine.

RE: 150mph + planes

HEY GUYS. All I'm asking for is speed planes with .32 or smaller engines. Please read the first post before jumping in here. Thanks.

RE: 150mph + planes

slowmo777: Good thing there is a 5 kg weight limit. This rule was most likely made to prevent bunker buster bombs from passing the speed traps with a .15 size engine tied to the nose.

RE: 150mph + planes

MJD I understand what you are saying, Finding the optimum weight is the key. I think one should start with a light weight plane and start adding weight. Did i say that? On second thought, instead...

RE: 150mph + planes

slowmo777, Hi. I have to disagree with you on the weight issue. If I understand you correctly and taken to extremes, a 15 size plane that weighs 4lbs will fly faster than one that only weighs 1...

RE: 150mph + planes

slowmo 777: I understand that the right prop is very important for speed. Even more important in my book is the weight that the prop has to pull. A .15 size plane at 20 Oz. or less is very...

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man. If you insist, have your buddy set the top of the exhaust port at .255" above the top of the piston when piston is at bottom dead center. Good luck.

RE: 150mph + planes

Slowmo777 , Why are you picking on me? I never said 150mph + was next to impossible with small engines. I know better.

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man, The Jett muffler on a Webra 36 will give you about a 1000 rpm more than you are getting on the OS 32. It has a better match up on the exhaust port and weighs about the same. The other...

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man, Since you had to ask about changing the timing I'm assuming you have never done this before. If thats the case don't. Just enjoy flying the plane as is. Thanks for your input.

RE: 150mph + planes

I am not getting very many replies so I will throw this at you. Budget speed plane, ie swap meet special. Ouickee 500 kit $40, used os 32 heli engine $35, attack 4 channel radio $40, muffler $5,...

RE: 150mph + planes

Slowmo777. Thanks for your reply. If I have this correct, the plane has about a 186 sq in wing area, a 32 in wing span and weighs about 30 ozs fueled. With a hot 15 racing engine and I'm guessing a...

RE: 150mph + planes

Slowmo 777, I have a lot of questions about your speed planes. For a start what is the smallest size engine that you are using to achieve 200 mph, and how much did the plane weigh fueled?

Camel and Evan RCU; Please limit your inputs to .32 and smaller engines and planes. I don't want to get this discussion off track. Thanks.

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man. Can,t tell from the picture what exhaust system you are using. Is it a tuned muffler or a full tuned pipe.

RE: 150mph + planes

Combatpigg, The OS tz-t 18 is the same size case as the 15 and will pull a 7/6 apc over 20000 rpm without the tuned pipe. It shows a lot of potential. Can't wait to get a tuned pipe set up and try...

RE: 150mph + planes

Combatpigg. The stock os .32 exhaust timing is not close to 180 degrees but a tuned pipe still works very good. I thought that we were talking about the jett tuned muffler which will not give you...

RE: 150mph + planes

Skull Man. Sounds like you like speed. If you would like even more speed raise the exhaust timing on the .32 to match the tuned muffler and install an 8x8 prop. You should see approx 18000 rpm if...
