RE: moki 2.10 mount on sig 1/4 300

The best mount for the 2.10 is the radial mount designed for that engine. Other than that, I have fashioned plywood mounts for that engine and the 1.80, but, they had to be built into the framework...

RE: spring loaded hinges?

I made mini pushrods with Z bends on one end and ball connectors on the other end, one for each door, linking gear doors to gear frame. When the gear goes down the pushrods open the door. When the...

RE: TF Giant P-51 ARF Engine Question

In my experience; the U.S. engine is anemic, the Moki 2.10 works, the DA works, the ZDZ works. If you must cut out the cowl do what a friend did, paint the exposed muffler in the same scheme/colors...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-51D Mustang

The grass poses no problem for the Robarts, but our grass is very smooth. The clumpy grass that posed the problem was at a warbird fly-in where it wasn't manicured too well, and even then it was...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-51D Mustang

I don't know what the fuel consumption is because I've never run out of fuel. The finished weight came in at 20 lbs. balanced perfectly. The Moki has gobs of power and is a joy to fly. I was using...

RE: Top Flite Giant P-51D Mustang

I built the T.F.GS P-51-D with the Moki 2.10 for power. Had to shim the Moki out 1/2" from the firewall, and zip-tie the reciever pack to the firewall/ 5 cell 6 volt 2,000 mah pack, and it balanced...

RE: Rounding the leading edge

The split PVC tube works for me. I select what I feel is the best radii for the particular wing I'm building and split (on the table saw) a 24" length of PVC tubing of that radii. I feel that...

RE: Biplane Kit for a G-62

How about a PJ 260? You can get the plans from Walt Mocha in Fla.

RE: Moki 2.10 (upright or inverted?)

You're welcome. Be aware though, the ONLY times I had a deadstick was when muffler bolts fell out and I lost tank pressure. As explained above, I solved that by installing the muffler bolts when the...

RE: Moki 2.10 (upright or inverted?)

Which is why I went with the inverted installation, cowl dictates. An Aeronca Champ had too narrow a cowl to go horizontal with the 1.20. Top Flite P-51-D G/S had too narrow a cowl for the 2.10. D &...

RE: Moki 2.10 (upright or inverted?)

I have been running the 2.10, 1.80 and 1.20 inverted on three different aircraft and have learned the following. No problems with flooding if you locate the tank as described in your Moki owners...

RE: Bud Nosen Aeronca Champ

I know exactly how you feel. My first Champ, although a great flyer was a bit tedious to put together at the field. It just seemed to take forever to get those struts bolted together, so I thought I...

RE: Byron Christen Eagle

The Byron aileron linkage was too prone to slop. Just too many pivot points. The hot ticket is a servo on each surface, but it sounds like you are going stock. Are the torque rods in place? Might it...

RE: Bud Nosen Aeronca Champ

I've built two Nosen Champs, one was an original kit and the other was bashed from those plans. This is a great design and can be done in a variety of ways. My first I built "straight up" according...

RE: RE: Moki 210

As I recall, the 5" wheels called for in the plans come too close at the center of the wing. I had to drop to 4 1/2" wheels to be able to cut big enough wells and not touch in the center of the wing....

RE: Moki 210

The cable works fine. It is stiff enough not to kink when tailwheel is retracted, and deploys neatly with no problems. I fly JR, so rudder servo is 4721/119 oz. as is elevator. Ailerons are 531/60...

RE: GP .60 size float covering questions

I really can't say how the monocote works because I covered my G.P. 60 size floats with glass and epoxy. It worked great and has good abrasion resistance. (run it up on the shore all the time)...

RE: recovery craft

I use a very big ( 7 1/2' ) spinning rod with a big Shimano reel, 20# test line and a big floating lure with lots of gnarly looking teeth errr, hooks on it. I've only needed it once, and almost wore...

RE: Moki 210

I've been running the Moki 2.10 on the TF GS P-51-D for about two years now and I believe it is the optimum power plant for this 20 lb. warbird. I run Byrons FAI fuel right from the jug and this baby...
