Thanks for the idea; I'm already running a second tank - pressure is between 120 to 140 psi. I don't cycle the gear during flight as it is now; but it seems with the gear doors blowing open it's...

What are people using for air cylinders to open/close the inner main gear doors? I'm using the small Robart air cylinders (1 per door) and they open/close the doors perfectly. The problem I'm...

As for pilots, you can get foam pilots from Aircraft International, which weigh almost nothing. I use the Hangar 9 pilot, it's prepainted, pretty light, and IMO looks much better.

IMAC differs from IAC in several areas as we are flying R/C models, not full scale aerobatic planes. Personally, I would be bored after 10 minutes flying the IAC sequence; it is designed to be flown...

RE: FiberClassics P-51 now Comp-ARF P-51

I've had the CARF Mustang for a while, but only have three flights on it. I've had a lot of problems with vibrations from the DA-85 cracking joints, and breaking wood mounts inside the plane. Also,...

RE: electrifly siren

Hi Bax,

Thanks for the info. I'm a bit confused. The instructions say you can use a brushless system, and Tower's website recommends a prop, spinner, and wiring for a brushless system, but it...

RE: electrifly siren

I just purchased a Siren. I'd like to use a brushless in-runner, and would like to use a 3s batt if possible. What motor and ESC would you recommend? Looking for max performance.

Thanks,

Tower hobbies also sells the black tubing already split for you, it's called "cockpit coaming"

RE: Nelson Hobby latex paint

I've used the Radio South paints on two projects now. They match great to both Ultracote and Monokote, but you need to be sure to use a light colored primer (preferably white).

Also, they're a...

RE: Help With Wing Bolts

I used the anti-rotaion pins from Comp-ARF on my 43% Carden 300. They are aluminum, and I hollowed them out on my drill press to remove more weight. They use Nylon nuts in the fuse to attach. Work...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Anytime Albert! Bring your Dad and Matthew with you (along with the Carden, of course). Plenty of room for you to crash at my place. Weather's warming up. Or maybe some weekend we can meet up at...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Some final (late) pics after the cowl painting. Still trimming out the plane, but here's some more observations:

*very steady, constant speeds
*nice, slow down lines
*snaps beautifully

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Steve, I never came off the throttle on the uplines. My failsafe is set to hold all servos, except for throttle which is programmed to come to idle. So, my first thought was that I was getting...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Ordered matching paints from Radio South. A little expense, but cheaper than automotive paints.

Don't plan on doing any baffling yet. I moved the motor forward, so the jugs are very close to...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

I don't know if I was getting a radio glitch (failsafe is set to hold every surface but bring throttle back to idle) or if it was due to the diaphragm leaking. Sure sounded like a radio glitch, but...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Mark,

The weight was as flown; without cowl paint & spinner. I just order a Mejzlik 6" Bullet CF spinner from DA today (along with a carb rebuild kit). I'm guessing with the paint & spinner...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

I plan to order a 6" Pete's Model CF spinner. I wanted to wait until I knew roughly what the CG would be before choosing a spinner. If I really had needed the nose weight (which thankfully I don't)...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Buttoned down the last few items and have the initial radio programming done. Looks like the plane will balance just behind the wing tube, but my method for checking isn't very accurate. I usually...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Yep - found a good field in Bedford, about 25 min from my house. There's plenty of fly-over room, no neighbors to worry about, but the runway is a little funky. There's an abandoned barn at one end...

RE: Yet Another Yak!

Well, our digital camera has mysteriously died. It won't turn on at all; dead as a doornail (and yes, we tried new batts!)

The plane is practically finished. The hatch is done; I glued the...
