This is a great thread, imo. Actually, this is the go to thread on the ASP 400. There has been tons of good advice and sometimes just fun. We've seen some great models and videos. I didn't want to...

Carosel, you may see a lot by smearing the oil in a zip lock baggie and holding that up to a light source. You can also magnify it to look for chunks. You may be able to tell if it is aluminum.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

At the very top of this forum you will find posts explaining the new RCU software implementation process. The loss of edit functions is explained there. It is critical to the movement of all of the...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Here is a good explanation that is an easy read and makes sense. Air pressures are explained quickly and easily:

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I've run a Saito single without muffler pressure. Just set the needles richer. Saito carbs really do need some kind of velocity stack to reduce fuel spitting.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

The main complaint I've heard is that they crack easily from vibration. I'm assuming you mean flex tubing here. If you are using flex tubing as a straight pipe (no muffler) there is some noise...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Bob- I got a nice set of both standard and metric from Sears for about the same price. They come in a roll with pouches. Maybe 30 wrenches in all, each open and boxed end. That was a good deal.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I should have just said muscle cars. That was a slip up on my part to say big block.

However, I would gladly trade my S-2000 for something along these lines:

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I moved to Germany and back to the U.S. after a 3 year stay twice. It was always a culture shock going either way. If you are open minded you can have lots of fun driving on both continents. Big...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I'm not knocking any of the engines. I've bought 9 Evolutions and the quality is very good. The only ASP I have is the old .40 from the 90's that is supposed to be a real performer. JEn said there...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I think that the 2 stroke Evolution line is a separate division of Sanye. The difference on quality is very noticeable.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Ok, I'll admit that I'm being a hypocrite for the moment and getting off topic. I vaguely remember a gigantic problem with JetJoe engines years ago. What happened? Were the engines worth the price?

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Let's just be honest and not dance around the facts. Everybody needs to change their outlooks a bit, and everyone needs to be more tolerant and friendly.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

A clogged crankcase vent usually blows a lot of fuel out of the front bearings. Run a length of fuel tubing out of the engine/cowled area from the vent nipple to drain off the excess oil. The vent...
