At that point, where synthetics burn up, castor is starting to also lubricate with a soft varnish. It is still expelling heat through the exhaust while there is basically no lubrication, or heat...

Yes, I guess to protect liners and pistons. Those items are important, and very expensive if it is an OS engine. And to protect bearings, of course. Protecting bearings is why most people add castor.

Maybe you think it's a crock, but show me a synthetic oil, usable in glow fuel, that matches the high temp protection of castor.

StevL- did you replace the little fuel line from the remote to the carb?

The vent line can go bad and collapse once heat and pressure are applied.
