a cheap plastic hull is the first major issue. over priced for what it is when there are better made products out there for the same price. as above stated go with the other options to avoid...

sounds like clutch slip to me! nothing to worry about all boats with a clutch will do that to an extent till it grabs,

if your saying your boat came with and runs nicd batteries not nimh no i highley dought it will not be able to handle lipos.
if its running nimh you should be ok to use lipo battery of the correct...

disconect your kill switch if there is one and see if that helps if it does could be a dodgy switch.
also use a cardboard buisness card to set the pick up coil gap its about the correct thickness.
