RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

That's what I thought, too. And yes, I'm throttling back after climb-out, too.

Thing is, all of my PZ batteries seem to run short. The Decathlon, for example, is rated at ~15 minutes of flying...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Long time no post.

After the demise of Freddie I, I picked up a spare fuselage with electronics from the (then open) Eagan Hobby Zone store. A couple of hours of slow, careful transfering later...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

That flight behavior sounds almost identical to Frankie I's final flight (look earlier in this thread). Mine was caused by the elevator slipping, however.

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Flying season is most definitely over for my household.

The Two Aerobirds are broken down and stored.

The Super Decathlon is in its case.

The P-51D -- which ended up being my...

RE: ParkZone Super Decathlon Review

The SD is my third plane, with an Aerobird Challenger and PZ P-51D proceeding her.

I'm just gonna say it; I don't like this plane. At all.

On her first flight I couldn't trim her out. ...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Just wanted to let everyone know about a bit of good luck on my end.

My not-local-at-all HS is shutting down and moving much closer. Because of this they were having a "closing sale" with...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Actually, I just had to return my PZ Super Decathalon because of its electronics. No crashes, but that was a combination of wind, timing, a little skill, and lots of luck. Enormous amounts of...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

TC: Yow, one crinkle means its shot? Yikes!

I'm already planning on buying spare parts of, well, everything, but I want to see if I can recover this bird. (I look at it and keep thinking "I...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Okay, it's been a few days since Frankie had her off-center HZ premature ground contact incident. :) I've looked at the plane and I'm having a strange thought.

I think I can repair it.

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Hey TC --

Yeah, I'm thinking the fuselage replacement will be the best route.

Here are the pics of the crash and the damage.

Argh.

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Well, my luck ran out.

I decided to take the P-51D up again today. The weather was perfect, and I was just itching to fly again.

Got out to my local field. It's big, it's clear, but it's...

Thanks for the tip about Gorilla Glue! Now I know what to ask for down at Hobbytown.

Speaking of which...

Okay, I don't mean to speak ill of my HobbyTown, but when I asked them what...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Okay, silly question time, folks: How should I mount some gear on the Parkzone P-51D?

I've heard two options, and even seen pictures for one of them.

1. Mount the Aerobird Extreme foam...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

My first impressions of the PZ P-51D are as follows:

1. Big, but very, very fragile.

2. Poor design for wing mounting.

3. Nose-heavy.

4. Poor design for battery mount.

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

Hey, everyone --

I just got into the hobby about a month ago. I'm a medically grounded PP-ASEL, and flight sims just weren't cutting it. Figured that RC planes would be a good choice.
