RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

Did not have to lower firewall.just relocated mounting point to center crankshaft. I'm using a DuBro 1500 cc tank (50 oz.) and it is good for about 12-14 minutes.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

I've been flying that combo for about 4 yrs off & on. Cowl has to be split & enlarged a little to clear the rocker boxes. Power is unbelievable for this size airframe. I'm at 34 lbs dry and it more...

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

I had exactly the same failure. It did a lot less damage than yours to the airframe. After 3 months waiting on retract parts mine is back in the air. The first rotator links that broke had inferior...

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

Pure pilot error.
Let it get too slow landing, typical Corsair tail drop & too much power/torque too fast & rolled over at 4' altitude.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

I'm seeing a burn rate of about 3 oz/minute. I'ts still new and I know it will get better, but I've got a scale meet in 2 weeks & I wanted at least 12-13 minutes with 3 minute reserve for traffic...

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

It's possible, but it appears to be nose heavy with fuel still onboard. I still had plenty of elevator left, it just quit flying.I'll move cg aft a little & try it again.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

First flights went well. At 34lbs dry it is a sled landing. No graceful 3 points with this bird. With full flaps let it get slow and it becomes a rock. No snap, no aileron softness, no warning, just...

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair

Rockers fit, but tight. I can remove about .100" from each for clearance but I'm leaning toward opening the cowl a little. It will not be noticable with cowl flaps open and will aid cooling air...
