Cowboy, I would suggest a 1/5 Corsair for this engine as it balances out the plane nicely and it's well documented the power is more than enough (even gas conversion). Plus it's a beautiful bird! ;)

Spectrum DX 18 Rx

I was looking at the DX 18, looks good although a bit pricey. But the only Rx I could find for it is the 12 ch. AR12020. The Cockpit DSMx is discontinued and I couldn't find any 18Ch Rx for it.

Larryy, under the scenario I have described, the boat would NOT change direction unless you'd sent an direction "change" with the input of your stick. So it would achieve what you're looking for IMO.

What about NOT a heading "holding" GYRO but a gyro to smooth wind gusts to keep the sailboat going relatively straight. You would still control the heading, but imagine the sailboat would not "swirl"...
