The "lag" you speak of is most likely not due to a slug of gas too soon. Actually , the gas delivery lags behind . This is why we had accelerator pumps for carburetors in automotive use .

Perhaps he is asking if by bushing the 10mm plug hole to a 1/4-32 and uses a G5 plug the engine would function on gasoline. This would be as an alternative to purchasing and installing a new cylinder...

Correct ,

Most trainers will turn just fine on rudder , sans aileron . Most trianers have sufficient dihedral and work well . It is indeed easy enough to test beforehand .

In larger production engines the fit along the hopefully parallel bore is handled by proper piston design. A good piston design will have cam and taper that have been very carefully worked out....
