What you are describing sounds normal after reading the whole thread. Most of these don't like having a load placed on the 12v AFTER being turned on. I'm cool with that, but in my case, it wouldn't...

Ok, so if I got this right, the 1ohm/10w one I bought is useless, resulting in a draw of 5amps, or 25w turning it into a fireball.

sigh..
