RE: New Funtana 125

I was wondering how the plane would handle at the opposite of what people were balancing their planes.

Obviously the flying characteristics of the Funtana are a little flawed at the recommended...

RE: New Funtana 125

Has anyone ever flown a Funtana 125 that was balanced very nose heavy?

RE: New Funtana 125

I understand why some people say the Funtana is lacking in rudder authority. It take a significant amount of speed and rudder to maintain knife edge, and doing a real slow knife edge is a little...

RE: New Funtana 125

We were talking about an imaginary 50cc version of the Funtana... not the current 125.

RE: New Funtana 125

It would be good for the cool factor, but 50/55cc is the best all-round performer/value... of course, we are discussing a plane that will probably never exist. :(

RE: New Funtana 125

Yea, they need to quit screwing around and drop a 50cc Funtana already...

RE: New Funtana 125

Just buy the airplane cover. I had around $700 in the Funtana, so spending a little more for a cover shouldn't be too bad in the grand scheme of things. It is disappointing, but sacrificing function...

RE: New Funtana 125

After 6 months, all my other hinges were intact. The rudder hinges broke because I did tail touches and harrier landings :D. After my hinges tore, I used hinge points just on the rudder. Adding more...

RE: New Funtana 125

CA hinges in these ARF's are prone to snap. As long as you keep the speed down, I don't believe flutter will be the cause, however, I did have a 320 oz/in servo on my rudder. ;) Mine sheared off...

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?

Just picked mine up. I ordered it through the LHS. The plane ended up being just over $430.

RE: New Funtana 125

The weight (not power) is a concern, but I've always pushed the limits especially with my 3D planes. I'm actually kind of interested to see how this combo will work out. You will most definitely want...

RE: New Funtana 125

I'm not sure, but it looks like a roller in the wrist pin bearing failed and killed the piston. It was pretty cool actually. 9,000 rpm to full stop in a quarter second. The plane (H9 Frenzy) is okay....

RE: New Funtana 125

I would be concerned about weight with this engine. A DLE 30 would be about the max I would consider for this plane.

RE: New Funtana 125

My CRRC 26 [before it blew up] would turn an APC 17x6 @ 9,100. There's also a guy with a CRRC 26 that would do 9,500 with the same prop. I was running Pennzoil air-cooled @ 40:1 on 87 pump gas.

RE: New Funtana 125

Syssa sounds like the winner. I have no experience with the engine, but it looks like a strong-running, well-made American product, and I would take that over a DLE if your budget allows for it.
