Not sure if oil would prefer to work it's way up the...

Yup. The plug I used was just a loosely fitting screw anyway, so if there was any actual pressure, it would have popped out of the tubing on the nipple.

On single cylinder and boxer-twins, the...

Didn't see this question till just now...

Weighed it on my bathroom scale and it's coming in around 19 lbs dry, with questionable scale accuracy. I'm swinging a Zinger 20x8. I want to say that I...

Here's a shot of my 3d printed sensor mount. The magnet ring was printed as well, with the magnets easily spaced the correct distance apart in the 3d modelling software. The magnets were glued in...

I hear ya. It's about $300 Canadian.

I ended up building my own ring. Wanted it to be aluminum, since I knew I was going to have a weight problem up front. Couldn't find tubing for a decent...

RE: Please Acknowledge...RcTankWars

Man, that's sad news indeed. Phil was such a genuinely nice guy. Always straightforward to talk to or deal with. And he was always so enthusiastic about tanks, and coming up with ideas to share or...

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180

I lined mine up mostly by eye and then drilled using the template in the dle30 thread. I think I aimed to keep the thrust washer centered in the cowl, with the cowl mounted as square as I could get...

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180

The firewall already has tabs that lock into the fuse, so I didn't drill and pin.
The tank can be left where it is, I did. I kept the stock tank and just replaced the stopper with a gas one.

RE: small Pistons

I've seen a couple of toys that used plastic syringes as piston/cylinders. You use one as the load, and another as the "pump" driven by a high power servo. Use a little rubber safe lube on the...

RE: DBU, fan shot??

The "hit signal" is so short that a fan shot doesn't really degrade the strength. The 1 second shot duration has about 50 repeats of the "hit signal", and the cone of the IR LED is wide enough that...

RE: Open discussion on IR battling

Interesting conversation.
IMHO, the technology is more than capable of it, look at the MILES IR laser tag system which has a heck of a lot of parameters (individual scoring, reload times, health,...

RE: Very strong harmonics/interference on Rx18

You could be right. The noise could be the result of a failed cap in a band-pass filter further up the chain, or a failed bypass (DC noise filter) cap on a the sound circuitry.
Really need to...

RE: Very strong harmonics/interference on Rx18

Pin 2 is +'ve. Pin 4 is -'ve.

Exact value would depend on the frequenc(y/ies). 0.1uF, 0.01uF, and 0.001uF in parallel should cover most bases.

RE: Very strong harmonics/interference on Rx18

The older boards used a more irregular and slower switching frequency/pattern, which wasn't as audible or irritating.

Chances are that the electrical noise is weaseling it's way into the amp...

Looks like the "new" RX18 has a 2nd stacked daughter card on the original drive FETs daughter card. I'd guess either for different (read "cheaper") FETs, or for more power. Given that the RX18 has...

RE: Question on DBC @ Danville

Worst comes to worst, run with a TBU instead of a DBU...that should even things up on the sensitivity of taking a hit.
