RE: Arming switch - advice.

one basic requirement for any safety equipement to work properly is that it is used the correct way.
So when you write : "an arm disarm device would have not prevented the loss from...

RE: Li-ion Rx packs?

I think that although storing Li-pos at 3.8V MAY increase their life, they are not going to die in a hurry even if they are stored fully charged.
I just charge them up fully after each flying...

RE: Wing incidence on Giant scale ??

What is the incidence on your model now, and why do you think you need to change it?

RE: Seervo Arm Advice

Do you really need such enormous servo horns for a 26% plane for as you said "just sport, regular stuff" type of flying?
I would have thought much smaller arms would have been better. Make sure...

RE: Gas Groovy

Plus its great to set-up your fail safe properly to disarm the CDI if you lose signal. You still crash of course but at least you're not chasing the model.

OK, as nobody else has replied yet, I will.
I have never used a Hacker A200, so I can't comment on that particular motor.
But I use a Plettenberg Predator 37/6 in a 3.2 meter (126") wingspan own...

RE: Pattern design question

I think that adding dihedral has some added effects other than just that of equalling raising the wing.
If you yaw a plane with no dihedral, there will be no or little rolling effect.
If you yaw...

RE: SAVOX Servos

Torque and speed is one thing that is always stated in the specification, and is always quoted for comparison.
But how about accuracy, (precision, deadband and repeatability), how do these...

RE: New Battery Warmer

We have used similar contraptions here in Norway for years.
Works a treat when flying off frozen lakes in the winter.

RE: Pilot Yak conversion

I think that the 259kv will require a fairly small propeller, which may not be the best combination with the relatively large radial cowl on the Yak 54.

RE: Measure the length of a pattern plane

I think the FAI rules allow up to 1% deviation, to take away any inconsistencies in calibration. (Same with weight, 1% allowance.)
So if you like gambling....

An external (carbon fibre tube) sleeve will be much stiffer than an internal one.

RE: aerobatic full scale airfoil

But if he wants a good IMAC model then a true scale model would not be the best choice anyway.

RE: Let's talk P-13

In the ribbon drawing in post #1, is not figure 11 drawn wrong?
(Drawn as a reverse cuban eight, pulling up 45° first.)

RE: How to apply carbon veil?

Now that's a relief.
For a moment I was worried that you were going to put your whole fuselage into a vacuum bag and compress the whole thing. [:o]
(Would take up a lot less space in the bin,...

RE: carbon fiber canopy

That canopy is fine and will be super strong.
But if you want a smooth, glossy outer surface on the canopy, then you should treat the INSIDE of the original canopy with release wax and lay...

RE: Motor options!

I bought a YGE ESC from that outlet. It failed during ground testing, prior to first flight. I was promised my money back, so I returned the ESC to Denmark.
This is more than a year ago,...

RE: Convert Millimeters to Degrees

You need to divide the throw (eg. 20mm) by the chord of the aileron (eg. 80mm) and take the inv. sin to that number.
(e,g, 20/80=0.25 sin-1 0.25=14 deg.)

RE: Pattern maneuver geometry

No, it should be round.
Same as a 45° line should be at 45° both at the center and anywhere else in the box. Seen from the center it may look steaper further out to the sides. The judges have...

RE: Servos For 35% IMAC Flying

To a large extent I agree with what Zeeb wrote above, but I would like to take it one step further.
IMAC flying is primarily about precision. So you don't only need powerful servos, but you...

RE: Cycling Lipos at Home

Presumably an old, (disposed of) car battery would do the job as a receiver for regenerative discharge. It should be easy enough to get a free one from a scrapyard or similar?

RE: 18x18 - 20x20 prop 10,000 rpm

Neu offer the P62 gearbox (Super Heavy Duty) for the 22-series with various gear ratios, 3.7, 4.2, 5.2 and 6.7. All other than 6.7:1 are "special order".
And for the 10-16 kW needed to do the...

RE: 18x18 - 20x20 prop 10,000 rpm

Joenella, you may remember what happened to my YGE160HV which I bought from your company for 15s. It lasted about 30 seconds.

On the other hand, there are plenty of other ESC's made for up to...

RE: Ribs for tapered wings

Of course, any 2D or 3D drawing or modelling package can be used.
But for a simpler approach:
1. Draw one of the profiles on a sheet of paper.
2. Put on photo copier, and use whatever scaling...
