I had one years ago with a Saito .72 mounted inverted. Plenty of power, maybe too much torque on take off. I moved the location of the landing gear based on something I read about helping on paved...

Tom, YS should spin a 15x8 (I like the APC). OS should use 14x6 as others have stated. The YS has the power of a 1.20 of other brands. I have the Skybolt ARF with an OS 91, spin 14x6 MAS, and it has...

I've had mixed results with plastic: some last years, others crack on every flight. Glass costs more up front, but will last longer. I have one kit that must have been really old as the plastic cowl...

I'll keep an eye on your thread. I bought one of the Guillow's PT-17 kits years ago, and have yet to build it. My plan was to either do a C/L or possibly modify it for R/C. I've hear mixed results as...

The pro 46 should provide much better power. Keep in mind different carb adjustment on low end (air bleed on LA engines).

There are four of us at our club that have the Phaeton II, and they all fly very well. I put an O.S. 70 FS in mine based on suggestion of another Phaeton owner, and I think it is perfect for this...

RE: GP Extra 300 build question

I built mine with a larger rudder (1") and added 1/8" aircraft ply (not light ply) on top of the stock landing gear blocks for added strength. I use a Magnum .91 FS, and had to add 1+1/4 oz of tail...

RE: Great Planes Big Stik Kit Plans

ST 90 will work fine, but you may have to use a three blade prop to keep the diameter small enough for ground clearance. Mine had a ST 75, same weight (very close) as the 90, and I had to add a...

RE: Great Planes Big Stik Kit Plans

The landing gear from the 60 sized ARF will work fine as long as you don't run more than a 12" prop. Bigger prop will require taller gear. BTW, it is quite strong.

RE: Great Planes Big Stik Kit Plans

I built a Big Stik 60 from GP plans, and it was a fantastic plane. I lost mine to a crash with another plane in flight. Mine was powered by a ST .75, and needed tail weight. I made it with the four...

RE: How do I brace weak tail

I don't think there is any problem with the 4* tail as designed. I have one I built with a Saito 1.20 on it, and built it stock except for enlarging the rudder for better knife-edge flight. They have...

RE: GP Extra 300S 60 Build 2013

J.Paul, thanks for the input. I just started one a few days ago, and I did opt to extend the rudder an inch at bottom, 1/2" at top, but plan no other control surface mods. I think I'll do some minor...

RE: GP Extra 300S 60 Build 2013

The stock gear looks very strong. Fireman, was it the screws mounting the gear that stripped out of the wood, or did the plywood break out? I recall reading about a fellow that re-designed the ply...
