RE: TF FW190 GIANT ARF

Hi Mike,
Yeah, I just got it. I'm pretty excited about this project. Should be a pretty quick build. Not sure on the paint job yet. I'm down to a couple of schemes. Why do you say,"if you ever fly...

RE: TF FW190 GIANT ARF

Well, for what its worth. I will most likely get the TF FW190 as my next project to compliment Angels Playmate. I will pull the monocote off and glass and paint. Maybe 1/2 pound heavier. But that...

RE: Top Flite 1/5 Mustang question

Buff,
I have built the kit with the Spychella cowl. Once you build the kit with the Spychella cowl you will see the right thrust in the cowl. I built the kit with no adjustment to the tail. I built...

RE: top flite p-51 giant scale build

What version did you get? ARF or Kit? There are alot of differences between the two. The canopies is just one of the things different. They are different lengths.

RE: Marvel Mystery Oil in Air Retracts

I know that RC Car shock oil will work. It is silicone based and comes in various thicknesses. Use 15 to 20 weight oil. Its also relatively cheap. All RC car shocks use O ring seals also.

RE: who makes the best scale P-51

Hey Tony,
Lets all gang up on Dave Brown or Tru Turn to get them to make a true P-51 spinner in various sizes. I think if enough people call them and request them to make them, they may do it.

RE: who makes the best scale P-51

Tony,
So his large one, is the 69 inch version? Correct?

I know Platts is 80 inch. I'd like to get to 89 inch (ish). Build it around available spinners, canopies and such.

Not much of a...

RE: who makes the best scale P-51

Hey, I've heard about keeping the weight down, but a naked pilot on a naked airplane. LOL. Just kidding. Made me laugh. Nice work on your P-51 and P-47.

Large version? I only know of the 69inch one. I've thought about blowing up the Dave Platt plans.

RE: who makes the best scale P-51

Hi Wally,
Is your friend German? I was born in Munich. Anyways to answer your question. I use the Revo 50. It has proven to be the perfect engine for this plane. It is rear carb and rear exhaust....

RE: funny or amazing crash stories

I usually tell non modelers that when you crash, you rarely loose the entire plane. Well here is a case where my friend never even attempted to pick up the pieces. Back in the late 80's I lived in...

RE: who makes the best scale P-51

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. I have the Top Flight P-51 Kit, not the Arf. The outlines of the kit and arf are very similar. I decided on the kit because I wanted to change a...

RE: top flite p-51 giant scale build

Hi Kirt,
I used a 1/4 inch thick maple rib doubler. I made a rib that looked like W-4Z and W-5Z. I think those are the part numbers. They are the rib doublers that face each other for rib W-4 and...

RE: ZIROLI SBD DAUNTLESS BUILD

Hi Sam,
Was Muncie hot or what this year? You are correct. I use a number of different methods to duplicate rivets and panel lines. I also use the soldering iron. I make my Dasus fasteners that...

RE: top flite p-51 giant scale build

Kirtsm,

Don't really need to reinforce the plane too much. I have had no issues at all with the overall structure of the kit. Only the landing gear mounts are terrible on the kit. I completely...

RE: ZIROLI SBD DAUNTLESS BUILD

Hi Kirby,
There are a few ways to look at this. First the rivets are put on and stick just fine, as you can see in the picture above. Also note that after the rivets are dry, I wet sand them...

RE: ZIROLI SBD DAUNTLESS BUILD

Hi Nicola,
I recommend using a little oil bottle for any curved areas. But I use a comb on almost all straight areas. The comb works very well because you can put on alot of rivets at one time....

RE: top flite p-51 giant scale build

kirtsm,
Just one thing to keep in mind. Be conscious of weight. Under 24 lbs good over 24 lbs not so good. I have found, that the plane will fly at over 24 lbs but under 24 lbs should be your...
