RE: Starting a Venture 60 .... Suggested mods?

I have it balanced at about 1/8" behind CG indicated on the plans. I see you sheeted the LE and the turtledeck. Nice looking plane! What's the shape on the tail?

Did you clip a bay on the...

RE: Starting a Venture 60 .... Suggested mods?

It doesn't show the bottom, and I don't have a photo of it, so I'll describe it. The bottom of the fuse is bright red from nose to tail. The bottom surfaces of the wing and the horizontal stab are...

RE: Starting a Venture 60 .... Suggested mods?

I know it's been awhile since I finished my V60, but I thought I'd post a couple photos of the finished kit. I flies great with the YS91!

RE: "Shear Web" Question?

I'm just curious...why are they called "shear" webs? I thought the main goal of the shear web was to restrict the opposing lateral movements of the top and bottom spars under stress to add...

RE: Does this Ultimate seem heavy to you??

I'm going to use an OS70 on mine. It's either that or a Saito 91...the Saito is lighter.

RE: How is the AMA President compensated?

I don't agree with "legal" residency. I think that the District VP's should PHYSICALLY reside in the districts they represent for at least 75% of the time. How well can they represent people if...

Aoakleyc...it's worth the wait! I had to wait about 6 months for mine, with any luck you wait will be shorter.

RE: In-line Fuel Filler

Thanks Campy. I'm in the building stage right now, so it'll be awhile before it's an issue. I'm building a Sig 1/5 J-3 Piper Cub, and it just works out that the carb will end up higher than the...

RE: In-line Fuel Filler

Campy

Thanks for your feedback. I guess I was too vague. I'm going to use a Perry pump on an OS FS-52 Surpass. Because the engine is small, the fuel flow from the pump may be too high for the...

In-line Fuel Filler

Any suggestions for an in-line fuel filler? The goal would be to pump excess fuel back into the fuel tank.

RE: J-3 cub with plug in wings

I think the YS63 is plenty strong enough. The YS63 is just as strong, if not stronger than the Saito 72, and maybe even the new Saito 82. I think I'd recommend you build the standard wing, not...

RE: J-3 cub with plug in wings

Then check out the Sig Kit. I've seen a thread here in RCU comparing the Goldberg Anniversary Edition, the Sig 1/5th, and the Great Planes J-3, and the Sig is the generally preferred kit. That's...

Sig 1/5 J-3 Cub Kit has them. If you're looking for an ARF...I don't know which kit would have the plug-in wings.

52 Surpass with Perry VP30 Pump

I'm thinking about using a Perry VP30 Regulating Pump with my 52 Surpass. I've read on Tower Hobbies that this pump shouldn't be used with an Air-Bleed type carb. Is the 40N carb on the 52 Surpass...

RE: YS FZ 63S equal to 70 Size engines ??

CentralHobbies.com lists the YS63 at $240. How much does a Saito 82 plus a Perry pump cost together? Probably about $240

RE: best J-3 CUB KIT . 40 - 90

OK...I measured the plans. It looks like the cowl is about 4 3/8 from the firewall. The 60T is about 4.75, and the 90T is about 4.25. Looks like the 90T is the choice. Any suggestions for fitting...

RE: best J-3 CUB KIT . 40 - 90

I have a Sig 1/5 J-3 that I'm going to start soon, and I'm trying to decide which engine to use. I have both a Saito FA-60T and FA-90T (not the FA-90TS). I'm really leaning towards the 90, but I...

RE: Anything special about mounting my prop to my four stroke?

Orc...I'd use the washer, then the thin nut that Daveopam mentioned tightened securely, and then the spinner nut tightened securely against the nut.

RE: Ultra Stick 60 performance w/ 90 four-stroke?

I have a YS91AC in my US60 using an APC 15x8 prop. Probably could have gone with less power, like the Saito 91 or 100, but I like the pressurized fuel system on the YS.

Scott...I think you'll...

RE: Anything special about mounting my prop to my four stroke?

Great diagram Mike!

I recently learned an expensive lesson...always double check the propnuts before starting the engine. Even with the double jam nut, I had a kick back on my YS91, and since I...
