RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

I've had both the Falcon and the T-Rex v2 SE and the repair costs for the T-Rex are FAR lower than the Falcon. I've crashed lots with both (more with the Falcon because of the mechanical failures)....

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

The collective control wire doesn't need to be straight (and probably won't ever be)

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

That's what we call a "9". Get that training gear off! If you're ready for loops, you're long past needing training gear. The training gear makes manuevering much more difficult. Next time you do a...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Helis require constant input to stay hovering in the same place. The CPD4 automatically corrects for imbalances, making helis hover with no effort. Some people here swear by it, but I'm NOT a fan for...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Sounds like a good plan, dessert1st. For you or anybody else who is shopping for a heli, check out eBay for used helicopters (that's where I bought my T-rex). Typically they're already assembled...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

That's actually the same video I used when setting it up. It's the throttle curve that has the V shape to it; the pitch curves for both ST1 and ST2 should both be a straight line from 0 to 100....

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Compared to the Falcon, the Trex 450 is much more expensive to buy, but much cheaper to operate. The Falcon is great fun when it's flying, and flies just about as well as the Trex, but the Falcon is...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Your pitch for both ST1 and ST2 should be:

L = 0%
1 = 25%
2 = 50%
3 = 75%
H = 100%

50% = 0 pitch, 0% = full negative pitch, 100% = full positive pitch.

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

This applies to most any transmitter, including the DX7 and the Falcon. You can unscrew the back and remove the little arm that puts pressure to cause those ratchets, making the left stick move...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

The DX7 remembers the trim automatically (no need to save it). It keeps different trim settings for Normal, Stunt1 (like 3D), Stunt2, and Throttle Hold, so when you get it trimmed in Normal,...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Yeah, the DX6 is also 2.4 GHz and digital. Besides missing the extra channel in the DX7, the DX6 is a little less quick to respond, and the range is significantly less than the DX7 (ok for helis,...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Yeah, same here. Look at it this way: the TX is the ONLY part you won't destroy at some point :).

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Well, they create a hole when they originally manufacture it, but if you buy a replacement boom it doesn't have the hole.

Additionally, over time (say, 4-5 flights) the hole will become bigger...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

The force of the spinning will keep them level.

It's a good idea to make sure all the screws are in tight anyway, and really you should take the whole thing apart and apply lock-tite to all the...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

I researched this recently and all the experts unanimously agree that the Spektrum DX-7 is the best transmitter for small helis. The AR6100 receiver would be the best choice for the Falcon. If you...

RE: Loops, just do them

Thanks to this thread I finally got the nerve up to do a backflip on my v2. Shockingly, it worked fine. The first one was like a corkscrew, moving off to the right (probably because I was too tense...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

The GY240 is a good suggestion if you're using the stock Falcon 3D transmitter, b/c it has a physical gain adjustment. If you have your own transmitter and you can control the gain from the...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Foxito, it might be easier to move your electronics to a new frame with a belt-driven tail. You can get the TRex 450XL in an HDE version, which uses the same head mixing type as the Falcon. A quick...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Probably not your fault. I had three of the same failures with only about four or five flights between failures, and it sounds like Foxito with the post after yours had the same problems. It's this...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

The blade grips are too loose if the rotors are moving in the grips at startup. Tighten them enough so that you can still move them with one finger, but so they're stiff enough that they don't fall...

RE: Falcon 3D Motor

Something to be aware of when using 3D mode is that you can't just set the heli down if you experience a mechanical problem or you're going to crash for any other reason, because the motor and rotors...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Wow, that's some lousy quality control.

There are screws inside each of the blade grips that hold them on. Those screws should have lock-tite on them to keep them from vibrating out, and it...

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

yeah, that's one of the most common problems. I reglued it and used a thin wire to hold it all together, and it held after that.

RE: New Mini Electric is here the Falcon 3D!!

Don't use those carbon blades--buy some woodies:

http://www.ka-planes.com/helicopters__2_?start=15

Supposedly the carbon blades will rip your heli apart in an accident. The woodies will...
