RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

Some more pics of my build with the SMRC kit.

RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

I am not particularly partial to either nitro or electric, I race both on a national level in my Losi 8ights. For the big GST I had my fair share of pleasure with the nitro version and were then...

RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

I recently re-converted my GST to a simpler, faster, cleaner set-up. I removed the entire stock gearbox and servo's, except the steering servo. This saved a lot of weight and reduction in gearbox...

RE: Cen Nemesis,Genesis,GST 7.7 Brushless Conversion Kits

The dog-bones is GS092. The GST already have one, just order one extra, right Scott?
I run two 5S lipos in parallel on my current brushless Cen and it gives ample runtime and power. The Mamba...

RE: Cen Nemesis,Genesis,GST 7.7 Brushless Conversion Kits

Scott, I really like to know when the black plates will be available...? And some Cen part numbers for the Matrix TR differential and GST dogbones would be great as well! I attach my take on the...

RE: Cen Nemesis,Genesis,GST 7.7 Brushless Conversion Kits

I run a Mamba Monster with 1800kv Castle-Neu motor off 5S2P 5000mah lipo on my own conversion with the stock gearing. Would like to try out this simple centre diff conversion though. Please...

RE: Cen GST 7.7 BRUSHLESS BUILD!

Yes, it does look clean. What parts do you need to complete the conversion? Bearings, what diff, screws, etc.?

RE: Cen GST 7.7 BRUSHLESS BUILD!

Just be carefull to line up the pinions to the spurs exactly. It seems from your pics that the larger pinion and larger spur infringe a little bit. This can cause major sparks and grinding!

RE: Cen GST 7.7 BRUSHLESS BUILD!

Gear mesh is a difficult thing to get right. I use the paper-strip method mostly, but sometimes adjust it by feel and eye. Insert a strip (or two) of paper inbetween the gears, push together and...

RE: Cen GST 7.7 BRUSHLESS BUILD!

JUCD, are you using a Futaba system with the Mamba Monster? This would require the potentiometer mod, otherwise try reversing the servo direction on your transmitter. Then swap around ANY two motor...

RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

Hi. I made the parallel connectors myself. I don't have very good soldering skills, but the shrink tubing covers up the mess below luckily. They work great though. I use 8 AWG wire where...

RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

RE: My Cen GST Brushless conversion

Yes, the lack of a first gear clutch means that the one-way bearing of the first gear spur kicks in quite hard when pulling away from a stop. But the programmable smooth start from the Mamba Monster...

My Cen GST Brushless conversion

I just finished my (rather simple) brushless conversion of the Cen GST. Here's what I used and a few close-up pics of how it looks all hooked-up. She runs great, but I needed to dial in a lot of...

RE: GST 7.7 Brushless conversion help needed

The space next to the motor is just a tad too small for a Mamba Monster ESC. Damn! Anyone know of a good way/place to mount the ESC?

RE: GST 7.7 Brushless conversion help needed

The Tekno Electriclutch is fine, but it only has space for one pinion. If you plan to use the stock 2-speed gearbox, you'll need both (17t/21t) pinions. I just finished mine. The stock pinions fit...

RE: GST 7.7 Brushless conversion help needed

I see RC-Monster have a 2-speed pinion converter for 5mm motor shafts. With that on the brushless motor shaft, no modification is needed besides bolting down a motor-mount like the one from Tekno...
