    RE: HPI Mini Recon

You need to stay with approx same voltage you use with brushed motor, which should be 2S voltage. As to mah, max size that will fit is the right answer. You want as much capacity as possible. Measure...

    RE: HPI Mini Recon

We upgraded to a lipo and brushless motor, both HobbyKing, and have been quite happy with it. We are in AZdesert, so brushed motors have a hard time with their open case construction. Be sure and...

    RE: HPI Mini Recon

Spot on advice. 2S seems to be just right. Iwas thinking it would be about like the stock NiMHsince its ~ same voltage, but the bit of extra voltage and ability to keep the voltage up vs. sag like...

How hot it too hot for the motor and battery?  Motor is too hot to touch and the label is soft now.  Battery is very warm.  ESC is not warm at all.

Any ideas on what the trouble might be?

    Body is JConcepts RC18.

Wheels are Megetech/Megapro replacement stock, which are form/fit compatible. Available at RCHobby Explosion or a couple of good ebay sellers such as Mega-Pro.

New shoes and body for the recon. This was our first attempt at airgun and bodywork. My son did the design. Great project to do together.

    RE: HPI Mini Recon

How important are the little springs that fit into the differentials and push out onto the axles/doglegs?

I lost one and don't want to spring (no pun intended) for the whole assembly kit for that...
