    Volcano SH .18 Cutaway PICS!

So I posted this over in the Engine forum, but figured I'd put it here too. Long story short I blew up my Volcano engine being a moron, and tried to do something fun with it. I can't seem to get...
  2. Redcat Racing SH .18 Cutaway PICS!

So, I killed the engine in my Redcat Volcano with a bit of a lean run. Well, maybe more than a bit... It was my mistake, no fault of the motor or truck, but it's dead either way. I'm a Redcat...
  3. RE: Deciding between chargers, Input wanted

I agree about the inherent problems with parallel charging board, and that's another reason I like the 4 port charger. However, as far as I can tell the hobbyking 4 port chargers are all 200w, 50w...
  4. Deciding between chargers, Input wanted

So up to this point, I've never needed a real charger. I run a Blade CX2 with the little charger it came with, and I've just used AAs in my nitro trucks.

I have an opportunity to purchase a...

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

I set the LSN 2.5-3 turns out, and the HSN 3.5-4 turns out for a baseline. That seems like a pretty rich setting, but I can at least start the truck. The factory settings are on rcu somewhere, if...

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Yeah, I'd use bearings over bushings wherever possible. If your bearings fit in the aluminium hub carrier, which I assume they would, I'd definitely use them.

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Hmm. I'm not entirely sure what "it" is, lol. What instructions are you reading?

The stub axle, the little metal thing the wheel bolts onto, rides on 2 bearings in the hub carrier. Are these...

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Do you have the volcano sv? As far as I know, the s30 has no bushings. Well, except the brass one on the flywheel.

    RE: First Micro CP Heli

I'm very sure I want another blade heli. My only concern is, maybe a nano would be out of my skill level since I have only flown a cx2. Should I try a fixed pitch heli prior to a collective pitch?

    RE: First Micro CP Heli

Hmm, really? I've seen people seem to get replies pretty quick in the car/truck area. IDK about helis. Thanks for your feedback; that's exactly what I'm looking for. I've had good luck with...

    First Micro CP Heli

I've flown the little IR helis like you get at the mall, and have owned a CX2 for several years. I can handle the CX2 pretty well, but its wasn't terribly hard to learn. I'd like a bit more of a...

    RE: Volcano Sandrail

I want this to be as close to rear-engine as possible, so I'm looking at a Stampede tranny for like $40 on eBay. I still think I'll use Volcano suspension arms, hub carriers, steering, etc because I...

    RE: Volcano Sandrail

Well, I ran a 2 tanks with only a rear diff, and the ring and pinion are intact, as are the spider gears. So I thimk we are good in that respect.

However, the front clutch bearing failed, and...

    RE: Volcano Sandrail

The rear diff will, in fact, see far more power for the reasons NewRage explained. Stock, power is being used to spin the front wheels. As a RWD vehicle, that power is still created and has to go...

    RE: Volcano Sandrail

Alright, fair enough. My only thought was that for ~$150 I can pick up a Tornado from the LHS and pull the driveline/engine from that, and use most the leftover parts as extras for my Volcano, as...

    Volcano Sandrail

    Hey,

I've been toying with the idea of building an rc sandrail around the Volcano driveline, and I'm curious how the rear diff will hold up. To start, I want to pull out the front driveshaft,...

    RE: TRX vs SH

Thanks everyone for your replies. I appreciate it. I think I will go with another SH motor, whether it is another .18 or some mod work to fit a .21, I think that is the best option for now.

    TRX vs SH

I know there are a lot of opinions, but if anyone has actually owned an SH .18 and TRX 3.3, I'd like some comparisons. The SH is a great motor, and has had plenty of power for my little 1:10 Redcat...

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

The SH .21 should fit on the stock chassis, if that is your question. I believe you will need new motor mounts, and all the .21 SH motors I've seen are rear exhaust, so you will need a new header...

Honestly, I thought the bottom end with the Volcano tranny was lacking ;). These say they fit in all HPI engines, which includes the Savage. The savage, and the Savage cluthbell fits the SH 18. So...

    RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

    Volcano S30 Transmission

I've had a Volcano for almost 10 months, and its a blast to drive. It's only a basher, so Ithink a 2-speed would be kinda fun. However, Ibelieve the Tornado S30 tranny is geared much higher than the...
