Typically, an engine with a bad reed will "pop" when trying to start but never run or hit more than just the one pop at a time.

The engines seem to run a little better at .025" rather than .020". So if you error on trying to achieve .022" -- go slightly large. Though too wide on the gap and the spark my miss fire?

The 33 is actually a Walbro but is proprietary to Saito and you can only get them from Saito.

It will bend in a crash but you can remove/straighten it.

The crankshaft is centered in the hole withing the backplate. Same holds true for the holes that mount the mounting backplate to the engine crankcase.

You can check each cylinder by removing the valve covers. On each cylinder put it on 0T or top dead center. Determine if you are on the compression stroke (top dead center, 0T) or the overlap stroke...

I have several Husqvarna 372's and they carry a little more rpm in the cut. 70.5 cc. A comparable Stihl would be the 044/MS440 series

But the 120Si/6800i(H) while slightly heavier than a 372/044...
