    RE: Newbie and rigger build

    kV is short for '1000 rpm per Volt' a 2200kV motor on an 11.1V battery will spin at 2200 x 11.1 = 24420rpm. The same motor on a 7.4V battery is 2200 x 7.4 = 16280 rpm. Well, it's supposed to anyway.

RE: Atomik Barbwire right turn sub

    Yep, mine does the same.

When I get round to it I'm going to try angling the rudder (so the bottom is further back than the top) to see if this helps. This should have the same effect as having a...

    RE: Atomik Barbwire

With the x432 the motor was at 68deg after 1 min WOT and the x435 was at 82deg.

Both these props seemed to labour the motor with less performance than the stock one.

I put the spare on and now...

    RE: Joysway Super Mono X

I put the spare prop on and lubed the bearing/shaft to avoid any issues and went out again today.

    RE: Atomik Barbwire

I have a SuperMonoX too, and so far no problems. I'm running a turnigy 2200mAh and charging it with an Imax BCA6 dual power I bought on ebay for about $30, only 5W but both do the job well...

Building my first balsa glider when I was 12, and my Dad bought me a new hobby knife with safety cover. I grabbed the cover with my thumb and forefinger and pulled the knife down, slicing my little...

The boat comes with a 1.4x30mm so don't know how big I can go yet. Still very new to this so untill I get some sort of benchmark, I'll be...

    RE: prop help

RCBoatBitz doesn't have the sizes I'm after in plastic, and I don't want to pay $30 each only for testing. I will probably get my metals from them once I know what size I'll use.

Horracing had the props, and they were the cheapest I've seen, and the postage was under $3. Dunno if I believe the 5 days to get here tho.

  15. Sticky: RE: NEW to FE? BUILDING a boat? What's a LiPo? Look Here FIRST!!

Just trying to reason why go for a 3S + 2970kV and not an 8S + 1100kV when the final RPM is the same, the difference must be torque or current or both. I would assume more Volts means more torque...

RE: what tape do you prefer for your hatch?

Thanx Boats, with the temp here rarely getting bellow 10DegC in the coldest of winters, we dont see a lot of ice, and the only scating rink is wooden. I'll try getting some from The Big Smoke.

What is this tape originally used for? I've never heard of it and neither have any other the hockey players I know.
  19. Sticky: RE: NEW to FE? BUILDING a boat? What's a LiPo? Look Here FIRST!!

OK So while I'm on a roll,

Hooking a 1400kV motor to a 3S will give a theoretical 15540rpm, but hooking the same motor to an 8S with give 41440rpm. Easy. But how do I work out the Amps?

    RE: Joysway Super Mono X

    Man, what a horror story.

My wife gave me one of these (off ebay) for Christmas, it's my first RC boat and yes, it's damn fast.
I have managed to flip it, and in stock trim it rights quickly...
  21. Sticky: RE: NEW to FE? BUILDING a boat? What's a LiPo? Look Here FIRST!!

    Thanx Mike

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Each cell that makes up a Lipo battery is 3.7V. Therefor a 3S will be 3 X 3.7V = 11.1V and an 8S will be 8 X 3.7V = 29.6V. From there, each cell may be...

Good write-up for us noobs, thanx.

When talking about S and P on Lipos, are you talking about how the battery pack is configured, or talking about running packs in series or parallel?
