  1. RE: Introducing the NEW Aeroworks Pitts Python ARF QB!!!

Wow, that's a bit heavy. I thought these were coming in at around 17-17.5 with a DA-50. How much does your smoke system weigh?

    RE: H9 Sundowner

The setup in the video has been clocked in the 125 mph range. It is capable of much faster speeds but these setups tend to over heat things. With the current setup you can run wide open for long...

    RE: H9 Sundowner

I have approx 20 cycles on them and they are holding up great. Our setup pulls around 80 amps max and the packs are around 125 deg after a flight.

    RE: H9 Sundowner

It should go like stink with that amount of power but you will need to keep an eye on the packs at the current levels you are pulling. I have my flight timer set for 7 mins and the packs are approx...

    RE: New Pitts Python Pics

I'm planning on e-powering mine and I'm starting to gather up all of the components. Do you think a pair of 8711"s w/slave struts will be ok for the ailerons or should I use 4 servo's?

    RE: H9 Sundowner

Our Sundowner is E powered and flys great (build thread here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=690932). I'd keep an eye on the weight as every oz I have taken off of ours has resulted...
  9. RE: Real Prop Info on the Sundowner w/EVO 26

I checked on the Vess Aero website and the smallest prop listed is a 22". Can you provide contact info for ordering the smaller props?

    RE: Sundowner from Hangar 9

The quality on ours is good. About the only thing I would complain about is the fit of the canopy/hatch. We have not had any failed glue joints even after a few hard landings although ours is E...

RE: Sundowner and Beginers don't mix.....

Just a clarification here (in case Zack reads this ;) ). He did not cartwheel the airplane but it did stall and drop a wing because he was trying to land it like his Inspire 60. After the one issue...

RE: Sundowner and Beginers don't mix.....

We have a few dozen flights on our Sundowner and it is a really fun airplane. While not a beginner plane it's not a hard plane to fly at all once set up and trimmed.

    As for the needed experience...

    RE: H9 Sundowner

IMHO, a DA 50 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big an engine for this thing. It may have a 80" wing span but it's not that big an airplane.

    RE: My SUNDOWNER FORMULA ONE

    Martin,

An option to check out is to set up your Sundowner on a buddy box and have an experienced pilot fly with you. This will allow you to enjoy your model with little risk. Once properly set...

Given the planes you listed I don't think you should have a problem. Set it up per the recommendations I and others have suggested and go have fun.

    RE: H9 Sundowner

I posted this earlier but here it is again. BTW the expo values are for JR. Futaba would be opposite.

    RE: H9 Sundowner

Set the CG at 3" and low rate elevator for +- 5/16" throw at the tip and you should not have a problem. I run alot of expo as well but thats a personal taste thing.

    BTW the Alley Cat is...

Ours is flying great now that I have it dialed in. Fast low pass down the runway, pulling up into a big loop, then coming back down at warp speed:D This is what this airplane is all about. It will...

I wouldn't be worry too much about the strength. Our's has been flown hard from day one with no other beef up other than the standard ARF practice to run CA over all of the accessable joints. Do a...

    RE: H9 Sundowner

Ahhhhh you ask...Why would I do such a thing. Easy, it wasn't intentional. I just goofed. I knew it was a bit aft but never fixed it before the maiden flight. If that wasn't enough I took off in high...

I've leaned on mine pretty hard with the CG @3" and even on high rate it is pretty forgiving. I totaly goofed when I first setup the plane and ended up with the CG well south of 4". Now that was an...

I have not weighed it with the new packs but it's probibly around 13lbs. Wish it were less but it took some doing to get it this low.

I think 3" is the sweet spot for the CG. My elevator low rate throw (measured at the tip of the elevator) is 5/16" up and down w/+50% expo. High rate is 7/16" up and down w/+70% expo. I fly in low...

    RE: Sundowner from Hangar 9

Ours was as good as any other higher end ARF. The only complaint is the canopy/hatch does not fit well. What was the issue on yours?
