I went with an HV power system for the receiver, as I do on most of my big planes. No brownout worries when the receiver never sees less than 6V!

I used a Corona DS538 on my steering. Overkill....

I saw that ad and talked to the guy. I'd have bought that plane if he hadn't thrown away the boxes! :)

I'm planning on building one of these also as electric. I've read this entire thread and...

$50! For 8 AA Eneloops!

I have been using a $17 Rhino 2600 mAH lipo in my 12X for years now without incident. I made a custom harness from a 5S lipo balance lead which plugs directly into the...

Got a Comp-Arf 2.3m? Measurements needed!

I have a small problem.

Say hello to my Comp-Arf 2.3m Extra. I assembled it, shipped it up to a fly-in I was attending and maidened the plane last season. I then left it in Georgia, in...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

6100, 6100e... same receiver, different pin directions.

As for props - 6x5 or 6x5.5 should keep you under 40A and will give a pitch speed in excess of 100MPH.

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

On the question of receivers - AR6000 and 6100s are so-called park flyer receivers. Some of the guys that have used those receivers in Strykers with lots of CF have reported having problems, so...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

One of my mates has this motor in a 36" delta wing. Batteries are the old TP 3 cell 2500 20C and 4000 15C (?) packs. Teeny-tiny 4" and 5" props, average current draw is 50+ A.

Rubbish.

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

If you've already got radio gear you'd really be better off building one up. $40 bucks for an F27C fuse, motor mount, hatch set & vertical fins... $10 more for some CF rod and balsa elevons... add a...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

Flutter.

Best check over the airframe and your linkages - look for servo gear slop, loose or busted aileron hinges, etc. Also a good idea to check for cracked or loose CF spars, especially if...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

BTW - I have one of the AR500 receivers and have tested it extensively on my E3D and the club .60 trainer. Range is *not* an issue... I took the trainer to speck height with no loss of control...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

itzobi - I was planning on doing the same thing - buying a PNP one and upgrading - until I flew my mate's built-up one.

He made minimal mods to it consisting of a single CF spar running under...

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark

Had a chance to check out my mate's built-up Stryker last weekend.

He's using a Grayson Hobbies SuperMegaJet outrunner and a Turnigy 50A ESC. Batteries are the inexpensive 3S 2100 20C lipos...

RE: JR Announces 2.4Ghz 12 channel & 9 channel radio. X9303 and 12X

Question for Horizon engineers. Can a 2.4G TX be linked to a 72mHz radio for buddy-boxing? (2.4G master, 72m slave)

That would be nice.

The same mate had prop clearance issues with the original Funtana gear. He had a set left over from a <crashed> UCD3D .60 which he liked because of its forgiving (read: springy!) nature, but it was...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I bought mine a few months back from Chief. ($779, shipped). They reboxed it - its far less expensive to ship these big ARFs minus the crate.

I'd consider buying another one as a backup, but...

RE: Spektrum DSM2 2.4Ghz modules for Futaba and JR announced

Both of the failsafes are set up during binding and are maintained by the receiver. They'll work in the same way with either the modules or dedicated Spektrum transmitters.
