New Hangar 9 30cc Spitfire! Build Thread, i got mine!
Here's a few pics of the plane, from my observations, so far looks very well constructed I have the h9 .60 razorback and was impressed with the printed covering and the ease if building. This spitfire is the same if not better quality. Included in the box is a painted aluminum spinner, painted radiators,gun mounts guns antennae mast etc. also is 2 different rudders and stickers for you to choose which plane you want to build! The fuse has a magnetic hatch just behind the cowel and cutouts inside for switches etc. knowing my past experiences with hangar 9 planes this one is sure to fly superb! I also have the electric retracts made for this bird! They come with some really nice stuts, gonna start the build any day now.

I will be looking for a new project soon and was looking at the H9 Spitfire or the YT LA7, both similar power plants. Look forward to your build and subsequent flights, good choice though does look nice.

Careful now it's only a build if you grow the balsa trees and harvest them yourselves, then draw plans and make all the parts yourself, and spend the next 3 years of every waking moment making it absolutely perfect

Ok I'm starting with the wing, the servo mounts are already assembled, thank you hangar9! But as a safety measure I added a little epoxy to set my mind at ease. I am working on both wings at the same time. The ailerons are hinged with ca hinges, the flaps are pin hinges, doing those next!

So far I have my wings done, installed my servos in the fuse. I am working on mounting the engine now. Ill tell you it is a tight squeeze for the batteries etc, but its doable. The DLe 35 ra will require you to mount the throttle servo in a different location. took some thinking but I figured out where to put it. So far the build is going quick. I did take of the bottom piece of the firewall to get into the fuse to mount the firewall bolts. I do that to most of my planes anyway. Plus it allows me to get in there again if I have to. I might stuff the ignition module in there as there is room.

Hi Predman, I have a question. I too have the spit and I am deciding on a engine. Do you know yet if the head of the DLE is going to stick out of the bottom pretty far or not? Thanks.

Thanks a lot Predman, I have never used a Evolution before and I am curious to see how they are but that extra .02cc of the DLE is drawing me back. Do you think I would really notice it?

The only evp experience ive had is with the 10cc and they run like crap. I wouldn't trust a engine that im unfamiliar with a bird as beautiful as this. How many lucky deadstick landings will you get before some bad happens. Ive had good luck with all my dle's that's why I went ahead w the 35ra.

have mine about half done..have installed a Evolution 33cc engine up front....it's a little tricky,but can resolve the problem....ordered a battery from Radical RC, for the igntion...should be here in a couple of days...going to install the rec'r now.....am taking my time on the plane...it'll be awhile before flying time is here...Damn winter has be long and cold.....have a Stuka and a BF-109 to fly first........
