I start draw one if my favoutite airplane of WW2 the Spitfire
I draw two variants of the model MK XIV one in 1/5 scale and another in 1/4 scale
The first model is in 1/5 scale with 224 sm ( 88.2 Inches)
Engine 55cc gas
and 9-11 kg.

The model is all wood

today I cut all ribs and details and this is the resolt

Yes it is possible to do a short version of the wings. It is very easy to do so by changing the detail of the wingtip

Dave, off course I work on Dora, this Spity is between the other projects.

Today I send all parts of Spitfire of my friient Ivan , he will assemble the model , I just rest of Dora

Today I made the nose of Spity , will be composite ( the nose)

Hi Fokke

Are you going to make your design available to the modelling community? if so then what are the chances of you designing a second set of rear fuselage formers to model the low back version of this spitfire {and perhaps a canopy design}. There are precious few designs out there for a griffon engine low back spit.

Ha , this is great idea Dave Read !!! I can make 3 sets of the airplane , with short wings , with fuselage and diferent canopy (your idea) and the main set wich I made .

If you need a friend for the Dora, you let me know you can never have too many Dora's! I keep looking and thinking about your Emil too. my favorite version of the 109.

Sorry, I didn't look closely enough to your posts to see that you run an on line store {too busy ogling your lovely cad work}
So I guess the question is when is your spit available and what format i.e plans+ laser cut parts or largely pre-built?

I aquired a set of moulds to produce Mk 9 {& Mk16 early} fuz+cowl+canopy+radiators&other lumpy bumpy bits at 1\6 scale. These parts are accompanied by a set of wing & tail drawings. This looks very similar to the Mick Reeves product - suspiciously similar!!
I have only produced one model so far, powered by YS 140L & fitted with home made retracts. The 140 is an awesome power plant - when it goes!!!
I was looking at some photos of the plane during construction and finishing. My son looked sooo young then - he's now at university!

Chirs, I work only with CorellDraw 13 , what you mean with "" skin of the model"" , if you talk about the cover with balsa NO I can't make it because I work only in 2D

I start work with CorelDraw because I needed to make plywood ribs of my project BF-109 E4 . There I made wood ribs of wings and several ribs for the composite fuselage. I like the result so I wanted to try to draw something different and some entirely wooden model. I like this version of Spitfire , because the nose is longer , the wings are different and the vertical stab is pointed. I dont know Mike R kiit , I don't have it .
I had used many factory plans and my experience with BF-109 model to start build this model only for fun ( I build composite models ) I wanted to improve my experience to work with CorellDraw. Now I can see my mistakes and correct them Now I work on 1/5 scale FW-190 D 9-13 , so I nead to learn the Corell for the best results

Dave , always nead friends for Dora, she is my old love. Before 17 years ago I start with composites with D9 in 1/6 scale You can see my beginner work , the model never flown

I have 2.69 GB factory plans of each versions of Spitfire, so I make my plans under this factory plans

As we can see , the differens between XIV and XIVe is the the rudder to , so if I want to make it I shood change and rudder

Ok I see. That makes things a little faster to create if you have the factory drawings as well.
Did you buy the factory drawings from a guy in Australia on Ebay? A few years ago I bought a disc with a lot of FW 190 factory drawings, very helpful.
