1/15 Bandai tiger I Early FO with s-mine dischargers / with Tamiya electronics
i bought this kit 4 years ago from a BTN guy pedro , their was still a lot to do on ... it was a good deal ... i swapped it for a dragon Panzer II and a 1/16 highway 61 truck
This one is upgraded with heavy motorbox, metaltracks and sprockets , it works with the tamiya DMD and MF modules for the FO Tiger I
It has recoil, traverse and turretrottation
how it was then :

I made the conversion to Tamiya's electronics for my Bandai Tiger years pretty much as you did Karel. I never changed out the gearboxes much to my
annoyance. They are sufficient for rolling around the kitchen or pavement but go into dirt and get a small stone lodged in a track or do a hard turn
in loose dirt and the original gearboxes are toast. Mine didn't last long in local club 'action' and after the work to convert it was disappointing.
I was fully aware of the kit/ gearbox weaknesses and limitations being plastic but was surprised just how little ( comparatively ) little use it took to knock it out of action.
I was driving my up a simple grade when one of the gears in the right gearbox just shredded itself.... I have Kenny Kong's zinc alloy tracks on the model.
I drive it fairly conservatively ( aka like a little old lady).
Background on my kit is that I purchased it new in 1979, I converted it around 2004 or so.

nice to hear jerry are you gonna upgrade the motorboxes in the near future?
is it also an early type or have you rebuild it to a mid or late ?

Keep in mind when you see the photos
1) I'm not a good painter/ weather(er?) never have been and even more so over 35 years ago when I built this
2) it is a bit worse for wear having run it a bit.
I'd used a small gear head motor with a toothed belt section glued to the inside of the turret ring for the turret drive. I did change the gear boxes to Tamiya using Zagi motors( they were considered the hot setup when I did this). It's been so long since I've run this I don't even remember why I don't run it. I think the action of the special effects wasn't so hot. Probably
the linkages I made up are sloppy. There's still the fact that it's all plastic; I considered making a metal hull for it but what to use for wheels; they're still plastic.I think I gave up on it
because of the cascade effect, 'if I do this I should do that which means I probably do that...' so on the dusty shelf it will remain...
Also the Bandai is so 'outsized compared to the 1/16 scale models on the field.
Seems sort of after the fact to wish you luck with yours, good work. I still like the Bandai Tiger I; it was and remains a fairly good model for its time; having functional hatches
which as far as I know Tamiya never implemented.

Awesome work guys on the old gal(s)!
I love my Tiger I and almost RC'd it (and still can) but I just painted mine up similar to one of the Tigers on "Kellys Heroes"... just need to put the decals on. I tested the gearbox and the kits tracks and thought it would be good enough for inside use. It's a pretty simple kit that just needs a little TLC... but it's HUGE!
I also have a StuG IV from them too... another HUGE monster!
Thanks for sharing the pics guys!

Here's mine. Without the decals and with too much dust.
