Curious about Walbro carbs
I would think that if you have a real Walbro carb you would find some reference to it on Walbro's official site. I have a ValleyView 20cc engine that has a Walbro WT962 carb on it. Yet, Walbro does not list this carb on their site. The closest to it is a WT964-1.
The VV engines are great. I'm very pleased with them. Just curious as to why the carb number is not acknowledged by Walbro.

Yes, I saw that. It is the WT964-1 that I referred to. Not the WT962.
I'm thinking that since the engines used for our application is rather small, maybe Walbro didn't bother to list it.

I hope not. The specs listed on the ValleyView web site state it is a genuine Walbro carb. ValleyView has enjoyed a very good reputation in the RC world and I don't think Tom Denney (owner) would want to risk their reputation over such a thing. I suppose I could call him and ask but thought someone here might know without having to bother him. If no answer comes along I will eventually give him a call. The carb works well. I was just curious as to why I can't find it on the Walbro site.

Like most manufactures these days, Walbro has factories in China so the line between a so called "genuine" Walbro carb and a knock off is pretty vague. Looking at many knock offs and comparing them side by side to the so called genuine Walbro product, they are so identical I would have to believe they were made in the same factory.
For the record, I have some older Walbro carbs that were made well before there was any such thing as a Chinese knock off and they are not listed on any Walbro product list I could find. I've always felt the lists are just partial at best and only list the most common ones available. Bottom line, if the carb works well, I don't really care where it comes from and my WT962 works perfectly. Its not like a so called genuine Walbro never failed or had a defect.

All my Walbro carbs have Japan or Mexico.............Walbro makes deals with a lot of MFG plants all around the world to produce carb with their name on them........and as Truchracer pointed out Deals with brand name products are also made......I also insist on walbro genuine repair kits.

I usually start here when looking for a particular Walbro carb. They list most all of the carbs and the parts lists for them too. They do give the specifications which is handy sometimes as well.

But the Chinese clone carbs won't be in the list. The Chinese sometimes get sneaky and use carb model numbers that isn't in the list. Then claim the carbs are a special model just for them.

I feel comfortable now that the WT962 is a genuine Walbro carb.
Earl, it was that list you referenced that caused me to start this thread. Not seeing it there gave me a slight concern.
By the way, I have a brother who resides in Grapevine but he is not interested in radio control. Oddly enough, he is a retired Air Force and Delta Airline pilot but has no interest in RC.
