Greetings.. So to start off, I have a Helion Dominus 10tr, and I love the thing to death, but I'm looking to put some upgrades in. After searching around for a while I can across this motor/esc combo that I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's so cheap. It claims to be 4 Pole 5900kv with a 60A esc.. for $50... WHY?!

If any of you can figure something out thatt'd be great, maybe cause it' unbranded? The seller has a pretty good feedback rating though..

For $50 give it a try. You won't lose much if you don't like it.

Those are unbranded/copied HobbyWing 60A ESC without the stickers/paint. I use a 35A version for the past couple of years in my stadium truck with no problem. Two of those 60A ESC, that you linked, sit here in front of me, and one more on the way.

yep, looks identical to my ezrun 60A system. btw, i paid $70 for my combo about 4 years ago.

We've been testing different esc in China for years. Have to say that there're too many copied version of HobbyWing. But one thing you need to know, we dropped every copied version to rubbish bin since all of them failed to comply with most familiar transmitter, also performance is not stable. Their outlook is the same but the circuit board is very different. Be careful!

This is good to know. Forewarned is forearmed. Are they being so brazen as to also slap "HobbyWing" logos on them? Or are they un-branded or other-branded?

I've been using some of the cheapest ESC/motors I could get my hands on; thanks to eBay and hundreds of low bids attempts . The HobbyFans 60A ESC guts look the same as my HobbyWing ESC, and that goes the same for the motors.

I've been putting the HobbyFans 60A ESC w/ 3930kv brushless motor through some hard runs mounted in my, old faithful, B4. Having put on some old Panther clay compound tires to abuse on my driveway....full throttle, brake, then reverse...repeat. The motor/ESC got warm. but not stinking hot.

I was happy with the power/speed output from the HobbyFans 3930kv motor as it will be replacing my old HobbyWing 9T/4300kv that is on it's last leg. Hopefully this combo will hold up to the test of time as I tend to run things hard on my track.

I have not ever tried sensored motors. If/when I do get back into racing again I will force myself to get one; just to see if I can tell a difference.

It's about 80°F now and I put some packs through the HobbyFans ESC/motor combos to see what temps I would get running my B4 and Evader ST. After several 15 minute runs the cheapo 60A ESCs are barely warm...3930kv/4370kv motors are at 135°F

I've had not much luck with another HobbyFans 3000kv motor that I got last year. It didn't seem to be enough for my tastes, as far as power and speed. It was a 380 sized motor shoved into a 540 size finned can. That one was quickly re-sold on the www.

The two new ones (HobbyFans) I got this year are powerful/fast enough that I need to turn down my throttle EPA to 75% to be much more controllable.

Your temperatures sound great.
Maybe that old motor had worn out magnets. Maybe got too hot and weakened them.

tooth-less, are you ordering from hobbystar? Some of their stuff looks HobbyWing-ish. I'm not saying that's bad. I love HobbyWing gear.

For the past couple of years I've stooped to the lowest/cheapest levels in RC gear and accessories. I've searched and bought the cheapest branded/re-branded/unbranded gear (ESCs; brushless motors; radios; soldering stations; tires; temp gun; airbrush; hex drivers...etc.) with most meeting or exceeding my expectations, and only one item (brushless motor) that was poop .

I learned not to skimp on servos. Buying the cheapest servos (multi-pack) I could find that had the same specs as pricier name brand servos didn't pay off for me. I won't mention the brand, but it ends in "Pro", and some people love 'em. A five pack of servos...each one of them crapped out on me in two weeks. All of them ended up in the trash can with high speed buzzing/squirming high torque/teeth chattering good times .

I hope to hear back from you with some results, after you get your new combo installed.

Ordered the combo from RC Juice. Based in the USA, fast email replies and great prices. This is my first order from them but so far so good, will post up some pics once I get everything installed. This combo is going in my Blitz so it will get a good workout in our mod 2wd class.

I swear by those Rocket motors, been using the sensorless motors for more than a year and they perform great ! So naturally I wanted to try the esc, it resembles a ZTW/SMC ESC and they seem to perform fine. After my (awful) experience with Novak,Speed Passion and Castle I normally use only HW ESC's. Hobbywing stuff just plain works. The 80amp RC Gearshop esc has performed great

Hear ya on the servo's. The only budget servo's I have found that are any count is from Power HD otherwise just get a Hitec,Futaba, Spektrum and save yourself the trouble.
