Default Jets Munt Merlin 200xbl RPM

Hi guys

Is anyone out there running the new Jets Munt merlin 200xbl, I was just wondering what top end rpm are you getting particularly if you have an early turbine.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, do you have a 200?

I was looking for the actual real time reading from the screen for example 114760, 115600 for example and whether these are constant or fluctuating readings if possible a video or pictures of the screen readings while the turbine is running

Hi, here is a screen shot of the log file of my 200XBL sn°210, as you can see very stable at 115000 RPM.

What distance from the exhaust nozzle to the pipe opening are you using ? Not including the bell.

I just installed a new 200 XBL in my plane, and I am noticing a long throttle response. Even with the settings set to " very fast".

Max ¾ and Min ⅜... the air traveling (passing) around the turbine is important as well...

What size fuel tubing you are using??.. Im using 8mm through out.. just a few inches before fuel pump I have a brass festo reducer 8mm to 6mm then filter and then pump. in my other setup I use an 8mm festo filter then reducer just before the pump...

The key is not to starve the pump...

What happens if that distance is way too much ?
I am using 3/16" from the pickup to the CAT. Than 6mm from CAT to pump and 4mm from pump to motor.

The gap between thrust tube and turbine cone does not effect acceleration (long throttle response)... the distance between cone and pipe, if measured accurately, effects the output thrust.. and there is a direct correlation.

The long throttle response could be due to several issues... the main is fuel delivery...

Also put a regular servo on your throttle channel and see if it moves at normal speed...

I have five M200X and two on the way and they ALL work flawlessly with the best throttle response I have ever seen in any turbine...

Is Merlin 200XBL still going strong? Would like to hear from people that have been running this engine. What are plus & negatives of it. Thanks

As of today I have 6 M200XBL. they are fantastic turbines.

The only problem is that from the time you order it will take about two months to get one. There is a long list and they are made per order. I would suggest you get on the list now and you will have it before the end of the year and be ready for the next season...

Also take advantage of the low Euro rate...

Dreamworks Model Products has been the US JetsMunt distributor and service center since 2004! We have all JetsMunt engines in stock including several M200's at this moment.

Have replaced a jetcat180Rx by a 200XBL, no more flame out (electrostatic discharge), much lower fuel consumption (increased flight time by 2mn with same tank volume !), smooth startup sequence and fast throttle response. A fantastic engine to me.

What's the correct orientation to install a 200 XBL? Wire conector facing up and festo connector down or festo connector up and wire connector down?

I was told wire connector up. And the Festo fuel line goes to the bottom.

I believe there is magnetic RPM sensor at the 2 o'clock position to the MPX connector. Try to avoid running the MPX cord over that area.

+1 on connector up. It's so easy hooking this motor up I always feel like I am forgetting something! 1 fuel line, 1 plug .. Done!

What's the recommended distance from the exhaust cone of the turbine to the bell mouth or pipe opening for the Merlin 200? Earlier in this thread Dave recommended a minimum of and a max of ¾, but that is less than the standard of 20-25mm?! So is it correct that this engine likes a shorter distance despite the pretty stubby exhaust cone?
