Default Zirloi P-51 maiden today

I have been working on a Ziroli mustang since feburary this year and have 2 flights on it now. Glass fuse foam core balsa sheeted wing and tail surfaces. Powered by DLE85 and a Zinger 24x8 4 blade. Robart gear with doors. Flies pretty good now that its trimmed.

Figured I would post it since there is not much on the web about them.

Would like to see pics of how you fitted the DLE85 and muffler used to keep it all inside the cowel. I recently finished a P51 that is a clone of the Ziroli. Great flying plane and kit but I rushed the build and butchered the cowel with my DLE85

The only thing I had to do was take the muffler (bisson pitts) cut the bottom of it to remove 1/4" then aluminum braze it back together. I will get a pic tonight for you. I also use some BVM heat shield on the inside of the cowl since it is such a close fit.

Tim, nice work!! Just out of curiosity, is that the same cowl that is used on balsa fuse version? Also where did you get the foam wing?

Thanx, Mark

Will check them out.

Used the wing ribs from the kit as templates and cut them myself. I have always been a big fan of balsa covered foam. I can make Super Strong wings especially when carbon is added.
Yes it is the standard cowling.

I am probably going to do the Ziroli stuka next , already have everything . Then I will sell the wooden kit back off when done . I only use the parts as templates.
