Default Super Tigre 3250 gas glow plug

I have this ST 3250 that I would like to run on gas, is it possible to change the carb and just use the O.S. gas glow plug.

IIRC, the OS gas glow plug is a different thread pitch than standard glow plugs. Someone else can confirm?

Here is a previous discussion of it, and according to Earl's picture it is a standard glow plug thread.

I have a 3250 as well as a 2300 also. What type and brand of carburetor are they using on this conversion? Thanks

There is a gas/glow column somewhere for "engine conversions" that mixes 1 part to parts glow fuel to gas. It may work on the big Tigers? It would save some weight and trouble, or cost. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/engi...-glow-how.html It is for weedwacker type motors, but might be worth a try with just a bit of experimenting with plugs and carb fiddling.

The OS gas glo plug is 1/4x32 thread just like all glo plugs except a few of the hot car glo plugs.I have flown the DLE 20,30 and Valley View 20 with the OS no5 glo plug. All run better then I expected but I much prefer spark.
Try it on the ST 3250,may run fine.Best to install a Walbro carb if you want to run gas. Also heavy oil mix because of the bushing type rod bearing.

I stand corrected - I thought I had read the GGT glow plug was a different thread than standard glow plugs. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Hi Walther.

How did you go running the G5 plug? I'm interested as I've recently been running my Super Tigre s2500 on a 15:1 gas mix using stock carb and G5 gas plug. So far it's been running pretty well...
