Default need some help with JR R1221

Hello guys, I am working on a buddies BVM MiG and he has a JR R1221 receiver in the plane. I noticed that the tinny little antenna on the back edge of the receiver is broken. He has three satellites installed in the aircraft. Does anyone know what that tiny antenna (wire?) is for? Does it matter that the wire is broken?

Well it's an antenna so for my money I'd send it into horizon and get it fixed. Its a significant amount of dollars involved to take a chance on something like that.

Yup, that's an antenna.

Is JR stuff still being serviced?

I shall google it!

It looks like the service dept is still running strong.

Had no intentions of taking a risk, just wanted to make sure it was actually an antenna and not something else that would not affect the performance of the receiver. The manual doesn't specify what it is, and I had doubts that it was infact an antenna because of the three satalite atennas that are connected to the reveiver.

Since the 1221 is a DSM2 receiver I believe the correct place to send it for repair is Horizon. It's my understanding that they still handle the service JR DSM2/DSMX equipment while JR America's handles the DMSS stuff..

Nope, That is not correct. I have JR America reps I know, and they say it is not true.

jramerica just sent me a new XG14 transmitter/rec. I sent another XG14 in for checkout-repair of a broken switch. While I was on their website I found an announcement for a $100 modification to the transmitters that allows the pilot to plug a speaker into the transmitter that announces sensor readouts like varometer, airspeed, alt. etc. The mod is warranteed by JR.
